It is true?

Friends! At least once in a week, I (and hope you all) receive a forwarded mail from an unknown person with a shocking image of a boy suffering from cancer, or 70 % burned, or anything like this. A tragic story follows under the image. And then it is requested that if you forward this mail to your friend, google/microsoft/facebook etc. will pay the victim a small amount on each forwarding. It is also requested to help the person for getting money by forwarding the mail. You have nothing to pay.. only forward this mail... etc. etc.
Let me know, is it true that only forwarding of the mail will be helpful to the person.. and the said organization will pay money to the victim. If it is false, then what is benefit for spreading this type of mail?

It's a low tech alternative for guys that'd love to create viruses but lack the coding skills. Like the guys that create them, the emails serve no useful purpose. They're spread by people that are well-meaning but terminally gullible. I know a few that fall for every hoax that hits their inbox.

RULE OF THUMB:
Every email that requires you to forward to a specified number of people or to everyone you know is just junk mail.

I never buy into such emails or postings. Most likely it is a scam or spam. If it was legit, I would definitely contribute to the cause.

I'm not aware of any software that can track forwards via email?

They CAN track "likes" and such on Facebook, but those are generally scams too.

Even fairly reasonable-sounding emails that ask you to sign the attached "petition" and forward it to everyone can't really work ... if you send it to people, then they sign it and send it to other people, with each forward you generate a different person in the next numbered position, so you eventually generate a cascade of petitions that may start off the same or similar, but go in different directions with the list of names, and are pretty much useless for that reason.

Ones that ask you to go and sign an online petition MIGHT be legit, but you probably get more that are scams. Better are the ones that ask you to write the proper representative or authority yourself, but again, MOST of these are scams.

And no, I don't get that kind. Ever. I *DO* get the ones that inform me that I am obviously an honest person and can be trusted to handle the millions needed to be funneled through a US account for someone's heirs, or perhaps I've simply won a l0ttery I never entered. Oh ... and do I want to buy Vi@gra, or chat with g1rls? (No, I do NOT!) LOL

Don't believe it and try to find out who sends it and even go to police if it is neccesary as some people suffer from such kind of illness to send junk mails to everyone.

Desperate people do desperate things although I do not know how many of these people that try these scams are desperate. The most regular one I get is some person in the Congo has lost their rich parents and need me to transfer their millions out of the country. For a generous fee of course. Also that I have won a huge lottery in England. They want all your banking and personal information.

These types of e-mails are called spam/junk which are need to be ignored. It's just like receiving an e-mail saying you won millions from an online lottery. Wherein you never bet on lottery lol.

Well said. Once i registered in a website with my regular Gmail Id. And from that day i started receiving bunch of spam mails similar to this. I just done a thing i.e. creating a filter (skip the inbox and move it to the trash). It's cool now.

Better to write the address of the victim, so that we can go there to help with money or any other things. These spammers defame the feelings of humanity. I always delete this type of mail and if possible, send a reply asking how and where you took my id. The sad part of the matter is that there are many innocent friends of mine who commit this action

You really don't want to reply to them in any way. If you do, they just mark you down as a "real" address and add you to their list. You'll get tons more spam, and they will sell it to other spammers.

I can see only 2 purposes for releasing this type of email:
The first would be some type of strange pleasure in seeing how many people you could get to believe and forward a bogus email; or that you release the email into the wild in the hopes of collecting the email addresses from it in the future.

Either way the only type of forwarding you should do on ANY chain letter is to forward it to your trash.

So...If I asked you to buy me some beer because I am getting old....
You would think that is a scam......

And not just a thirsty old guy trying to get a free drink?
Well, would you?

Obviously lies, Reminds me of being in Thailand years ago and you used to get 5-8 year old kids in the same place all day on various streets sleeping, beside the kid was always (tied to something) a puppy dog and a note (usually written in tears) stating "my name is ben please leave some money in my bowl or my dog will have no food and will die, thanks"

After being there for about a week a taxi driver told me that the children are given sleeping tablets so they are dozy all day and the puppies are just replaced with new ones and never fed, it's an emotional scam much like the depressing emails you've been getting, I would just block the sender and forget about it.
