Talking What's Your V7N Story?

I'm so curious to know what is the v7n story of each member in this friendly community has. I will share to you my v7n story, hoping to inspire other members to write as well. It's better if you can blog it too!

Very much excited to start my first day of doing SEO, my IT Manager forwarded me a link containing different do-follow forums arranged by Page Rank. He asked me to register in those forums after finding my target, I nod, I register in each forums, but not everything coz I felt tedious registering and reading different rules / faqs, some are long some are veeerrryy looonggg, so I stopped. Before I stopped, I'm already registered in v7n. 7 minutes or less after I confirmed my registration, I created my introduction thread. Some members extended their warm welcome to me, I feel happy about it. Though that thread has nothing info about "MrSS". Being a newbie, I need to lurk around to know what kind of environment v7n has, how members interact, who are the Moderators, familiarize with forum rules and some forum specific rules and other basic things a newcomer should do before taking any step in. Not much time I'm here, I fell in-love with this community. I was fascinated how much knowledge I can gain here, the first thread I visited was: Learn Something New Every Day –V7N's SEO Tip of the Day by V7N Super Moderator mjtaylor. That thread also been my guide in taking my first step in a wild field of SEO, really learned allot from it. E verything seems right for me, but I commit mistake for posting a shorten URL thus I got my first warning on this thread, well it's fine, it's already expired. Good thing I'm not banned for that mistake, am really shivering receiving that warning point. To tell you honestly my forum attitude has changed since I've been member of V7N, not to brown nose. The quality guidelines of this community changed the way I usually post. I'm part of other forum, it's an exclusive Filipino PC community, and the posting quality is not a big deal. With all the knowledge and friends I gained here, I find it hard to skip a day not visiting here, though am not posting I'm just reading and searching some forums, coz I know even old topic still got fruitful info and worth the time reading. Over time, am so inspired by the members who have given quality contributions in V7N so I also got this wish that someday I'm gonna be one of the greens, yes am referring to be one of the mentors. Though for now it seems like am wishing upon a start, and base from my topics and posts, truly not enough. Still I keep holding on, and wishing one day, soon enough it will come to reality. Reviewing websites is the only contribution I can say with pride, am not so good in SEO field, that's why I can't share so much and actually am afraid of sharing things. Before I created a thread, I gathered so much courage. Like this one, this v7n story is supposedly be published December last year, due to my freight, I keep it as draft and saved in a notepad. How coward right? I'm just afraid of seeing my thread full of views and has no reply even one. Paranoid me, I must admit. Knocking my self out I realized v7n gives me the feeling of belongingness. This is the community I used to lean on when I need something about SEO and other things that help my corporate and personal life.

As you may notice some letters been capitalized and emphasized, when comprised we can create the word V7Network. That word made people smile, laugh, learn something new, make friends, give venue to interact with people despite of geographic location, shared their thoughts from professional view to humorous view and ultimately more than just a community. Thank you v7n for giving us safe and friendly home online.

Now, I'm asking you "What's your v7n story?" Go!

* I'm not dying, okay? I'm only 20 year old guy, just telling a story.
** You don't have to follow the style I used.

I wondered in at the tender age of 14 back in 2006 after being a member of a few forums for a few months and wanted to broaden my horizons to more than basic HTML/CSS at the time. SEO and Social Media was all the rage and only becoming bigger so that wasd the next logical step, so I found V7N and various other places, stuck around here although rarely posting, I was a lurker back then mostly as I was a 14 year old in an environment where most of these people are paid to do SEO, Marketing and Coding, what business did I have posting.

I remember the Ambassador group, always wanted to be one so I posted a bit more and tried to be as constructive as possible, can never remember if I ever got to be one but I don't think I did, then I generally lurked not really having the confidence in my abilities to contribute on the level that some of these people do (a trait I still struggle with today) however I started to post more in the sections I am confident in IE the basic coding threads and PC hardware/software threads and then after a few immature breakdowns I was back to being a good boy and that's where I am today.

The main thing here nowadays is learning from the good friends that I have made on this forum and trying to contribute any skills I have in an attempt to help them and others.

I was looking for affiliate marketing tips and lurked here for 3ish years before deciding to join because i was seeing some shady things going on this forum. (sneaky spammers and other stuff) I was once a global moderator on a large free remotley hosted forum company and was used to spotting shady people and wanted to do good. Somehow Cricket made me a mentor and after that, i got series about v7n and ended up in a moderator role. My story stinks but if i told you the whole thing, i'd have to ban you.

This has always been a friendly community even before i joined, this place made me feel at home and not afraid to post a dumb question here and there without getting attacked like on another webmaster forum.

My V7n Story

Back in 2011, I was searching for a way to learn how to create a better website that would rank high for my niche.

I spent many days reading the posts on here and asking questions and waiting for answers. (I really feel that God has worked wonders in my life by providing V7N as a means to enlighten me as to honest and truthful ways to promote my services in my community.)

So after many hours of reading posts and asking questions, I started making small changes to my website. I experimented with many things that I thought would work well, (those things mostly failed).

In the process of reading and listening to the honest and truthful means to make a successful website for a niche business, I have managed to dominate nearly every competitor in my market on my search engine listings.

It has paid off well as I get 1 to 3 phone calls a week for potential business from my efforts learned on V7n.

For example, in 37 geographical areas in one of my counties, my services rank #1 in 33 of them. In the 3 others, my services are in the top 5. In the county as a whole, they are #9.

But better yet, in the entire state my services are #14.

So I praise God for bringing V7n into my life.

P.S. (Any advice as to how to get to #1 in my state?)

I may only have been here for a year or so, but I have always tried never to miss a day logging in here. Sometimes it doesn't work out that way because I get really busy. When I joined, I was literally a greenhorn. I was studying at the time, and looking through forums to see what else I could learn. Instead, after joining v7n, I ended up getting a little more than I bargained for. I grew as a person, made some hilarious new friends, and its the one place I can go that can make me smile when I am sad. Its one of the things I love most about this forum. Its not just sections and subforums. Its a growing community that not only comes here to learn, but also comes here to talk to each other, help out and help others learn. Seeing that, I decided to try help out in any way I could, which was not much then, and probably still isn't much now lol (there are so many here that know more than I do), but I am glad I was given my mentor role, and I am proud to be one.

Talking Writing your v7n Story Guide

Nice to see v7n stories from you mates! I wanna read some more from the other members ...

Do you want to share your v7n story but don't know how to start? Here is MrSS guide: (be it in paragraph form )

1. When you registered in v7n?
2. What took you to v7n? How or where do you know v7n?
3. What is your (first) impression to this community?
4. In what section you keep on hanging around and why?
5. What are the things you love in this community?
6. Did v7n change your life? Is there any business opportunity you found in v7n? What is it? Mention any good things happened to you while you're here.
7. Have you ever dream to be one of the group leaders? Why and why not?
8. What do you expect or something you're looking forward to as you stay longer in v7n?

* You can add some more to you hearts content. Don't worry if your v7n is as long as a noble, I love reading!

Thanks!

If people are trolling, they will have a story to tell about how they got banned from V7N.

Come on folks, tell your story.

Cricket wants to know.

I have been part of this community since before we even became the V7N in 2003. If I remember correctly I ran into the founder of this community, John Scott, in another forum. I was hungry for information at the time and followed him back like a lost puppy.

I was scared to death to post the first time, and when I did, I made a huge mistake asking for a review right off the bat. (Yup, I didn't read the rules first!)
Instead of chastising me, one of the moderators explained the rules to me gently and then kind of took me under his wing.

I was like a sponge! I wanted to know EVERYTHING about running a site the right way - in a manner that I could count on then and in the future.

In time I became a mentor. (It was called something else then.) I honestly don't remember when I became a moderator. It just sort of happened. Not long after that, I became a super moderator. Eventually I became an admin. When the site was sold back in 2008 I remained with the new owners.

Why did I stay?

Because the people became family to me. I have laughed, cried, mourned, and shared many moments with the friends I have found in this community.

Not a troll bait but a lure. I guess people will post if they know they can get something out of it. As for the other who posted, I know they love me(?) and only want is to share.
There are times I don't care about the quality back link I might got, as long as my I find the topic interesting I got for it.

Good point Snake! I wanna read some story from trolls and banned member(s) who by any chance have changed and return in v7n.

Cricket,
* Sorry I didn't quote your post *
Thank you very much for posting your short and sweet v7n story. I become curious what is the former title of know v7n mentor. Your story brought inspiration to me. It's cool to know that before you used not to read rules too. As I can see you used that moderator's forum management attitude in managing v7n, no wonder why v7n become the friendliest community on internet. I do hope every community is like v7n.

Sometimes I feel belong and not belong here. I feel belong when I able to go along with the discussion; and I feel not belong when I'm not. Probably it's just my paranoid side.
