No place like V7n

I've scouted around the web and I've failed to find any forums like V7n.
(Not that I've looked everywhere)

Anyone have any insight as to why?

I figured out most webmaster forums are full of spammers, 90% of people dont use forum search. Same questions are being answered every day, it must be rly hard for the mods to do their job

It's because v7n's Philosophy:
Quote:
We at the V7N believe that the Internet is more than a medium. We believe it is more than a marketplace. The Internet is a community. Much more than some communities based on geographic location, the Internet is a community of real people sharing real experiences in real time.

Our first priority as a community within a community is to nurture the growth of our members. We share, educate, learn and debate as members of a community sharing the common goal of growing as individuals and as web professionals.

As a community, it is of paramount importance that we respect one another. We treat each other as humans should treat one another. We are committed as a community to treat each other with understanding, kindness, respect, and to hold ourselves to a higher standard.

Having said that, it must also be said that a community without conviction is a shallow community. A community without integrity is worthless to its members. For this reason, we will never shy away from addressing the issues that confront us as professionals.

We have in the past confronted the controversial issues. We will in the future continue to confront these issues head on.

Not in v7n. I can say v7n is 100% moderated community. Less spam, or I must say spam free. When member(s) seems like didn't search first and created new topic about existing on going discussion, the new thread is more likely be closed. And the funny part is when a member asks something about SEO but the answer is actually in their website. Boom! What you will see next is three red X's below the username of that member.

That is what is a bit odd to me about the supposed Google changes.

If they want people to be a part of a community, then people who don't know anything will be the ones coming to the various forums to ask questions and learn.

And any links to their websites or blogs will be mostly unrelated to their websites or blogs.

Added more thoughts here.

So it might just be possible that the more outbound links to irrelevant pages may mean that the information might actually be useful.

Of course in my exploration for other forums, I have found that most of them are totally useless for getting any information from them on pretty much any topic.

I tend to be rather promiscuous when it comes to forums, ie I tend to get around a lot and rarely stick to one place for long.

I have been on other webmaster forums and agree that they are full of spammy posts, repeated questions and are generally just a waste of time to read or post on.

This one immediately struck me as different, the mods are among the most active that I have seen on a forum. I can only imagine how tough it is keeping a forum of this size as free as spam and junk posts as possible but they manage to do a great job.

I think the key is the proactive mod and admin team, they are quick to get rid of timewasters and equally as quick to encourage anyone they deem to be of value to stick around.

Anyone looking to have a successful forum of their own could do a lot worse than follow the example set here.

The key is found in understanding the difference between a forum and a community.
