It began with IT by stephen king then snowballed from there, the circus hasn't been the same since, my phsychiatrist seems to think i don't like them because a clown killed my parents when i was younger but that seems over the top in some way's, i blame stephen king.

i'm really not scared of clowns, I just have this unshakable desire of punching them square on their big fat red noses or something like that

It's just a person dressed up, I don't see how someone can be scared by another's profession.

I remember when I was young, there was this childrens party at mcdonald's. I was playing with playmates when ronald came out of nowhere, stepped on my foot (damn those gigantic shoes) and then didn't even say sorry and just continued prancing around. now that i've grown, I still haven't had my revenge which is why i have need to beat the living daylight out of guys who wear way too much make up...

See....there's proof that clowns are evil!

I've always hated them. When I was little, I thought their acts were stupid. I mean....come on....what's funny about a red nose that honks and big floppy shoes and rainbow colored wig?

As I got older (and, yes, Stephen King's "It" certainly added to my fear)....I just found them to be very creepy and they have a certain air of pedophilia about them, too.

(at least, in my opinion)

I had an illustration professor that had a fear of clowns... I thought a ink drawing of one would be funny... he did not think so.

Once upon a time....

There was an old-school comedian named Red Skelton, and he also used to paint pics of clowns. My husband's grandmother was a friend of his, and when my daughter was born, she commissioned him to make a CLOWN PAINTING for her nursery! When she presented us with the painting, my husband got up and walked out of the room, so his grandmother wouldn't see him go into absolute hysterics laughing. Apparently, my eyes bugged out, and I turned white as a sheet (though, that's not saying much, as I am always white as a sheet)

I thanked her with the absolute fake-est smile I have ever mustered. It wasn't her fault, as my fear of clowns was not "public" at that time.

This painting, of course, had to be hung.......but I couldn't do it! Sooo.....I hung up a different picture, then hid the painting in the basement behind the furnace until whenever Nanny would visit....then I quickly would switch the pictures out. Several years later, after she passed away, I cut the picture up and threw it into the garbage.

(We were given many other clown-themed baby gifts....and all of them were either thrown out or returned.)

As of today, I am proud to live in a completely clown-free zone.

But how could anyone hate clowns, they always look so happy no matter what they do

~H~, you need to confront your fears. Maybe you should go to clown-fest (a bit like Oz-fest but just 1000's of clowns)

I don't think it exists but the sheer thought is actually scaring me
