this is a good idea. You will get a lot of defectors from SPF now they charge for ALL marketplace entries. This is just what the webmaster community needs and at just the right time too!

Looks fine but I'm missing icons there, would make it easier to read. For example a special Status icon. And e-mails shouldn't be listed in plaintext there.

My project was closed but I didn't get any bids - do they close automatically after a certain length of time?

I think we were going to close them after a month, but I'm not sure. I'll have to look into that.

How should they be listed?

I would send a notification email so that people know their thing is being closed and then they can reopen it or whatever. I just submitted a new one by the way.

There are several possibilities:
1) As Images - but that's not really comfortable

2) Encrypt the E-Mail via JavaScript, that's something I did here e.g.:
sunlab.de/Impressum.aspx
If you got Javascript turned on you'll see info[edited for spam reasons]sunlab.de, if not you'll see: wB58@BtuHVb.de - Spam bots are afaik not capable of Javascript.

3) Show the E-Mails as info(at)sunlab.de or simliar stuff - also not that comfortable

4) Create a form submission for that kind of stuff like vBulletin does it. If a member on the board accepts E-Mails you can click on "E-Mail" and a form opens. You fill in your text and submit it, that way the author E-Mail Addy never gets published - in fact the most secure way.

Well, I think the people should actually respond to the ads if they post one up. Some have been "open" forever. I replied to two, got no response, and neither has ever been "closed" (its been awhile too). I know that's not something John can do anything about though. Maybe have some kind of expiration date or something? Like after 60 days it gets knocked off or "closed" automatically.

I think people should have to sign up post and ad and other people sign up and respond to ads with a PM system.

I think I like the market place, might have gotten a job allready. the guy responded and asked for my paypal.

Have you thought about implementing iTrader which I believe is an VB add-on - this works a little like Ebay in that people leave reviews. I'm always weary about buying services or products off forums unless I know the member well.
