I think the technical name of the monstrosity is a garden, I prefer the term overgrown forest. I used to enjoy gardening, however now I suffer from very bad Rhinitis which stops me from sitting in pollen and grass without coming away feeling ill.

I know how you feel I have tons of space to actually have more than one garden in an area, but for now because of my ducks that kinda like eating plants, and my dog that uses rose bushes as a bed.... its on hold. I was thinking of a greenhouse at some point, but I've been too busy for that.. When I have the time (and the allergy meds), I might just get stuck in.

I only have a small balcony but I would love to try some ideas!
I found this site: http://www.shelterness.com/30-cool-i...-balcony-cozy/
I so want to try some of these. I also thought it would be nice to have some small things like cherry tomatoes growing.

My garden consists of 5 tomato plant in the actual yard growing in 8 square feet of bedded space an one sweet 100 cherry tomato plant in a pot on the deck. The cherry is used for afternoon snacks all summer long because a mater is never better than warm off the vine.
When the kids were small I had about a 1600 square foot garden and grew stuff in raised, intensive beds. With good soil, good care, added water and hard work you can grow a lot of veggies in a small amount of space. Green beans, peas, carrots, onions. garlic and the cabbage family all do well with the bio-intensive raised bed method.

This one is for Mama Cricket
Cherry tomatoes are ideal for container growing. The bigger slicers not so much. They need a larger root area to develop well.
Use a quality lightweight growing medium, not potting soil. You want to stuff like the plants are potted in when you buy them. This is so it won't be too heavy to move and this medium will hold the moisture better.
Then you need at least a 5 gallon container with drain holes and a pan/saucer. Plant the little plant as deep as you can, up to the first true leaves or if ist taller you can even remove the first round of leaves.
Feed it well with a low nitrogen fertilizer. The water soluble stuff made for blooming flowers is easy to find. Reduce feeding when the blooms start to set but still feed it once a week.
This plant was a 6" tall, $1.48 sapling on April 12 of this year. I have one little guy in that lower bunch just start to get a little pink.

I have a 250 sq ft. veg. garden, A couple of flower beds and assorted fruit trees and bushes. I enjoy it, but the small critters are a challenge and deer can really wipe things out in a hurry.

I do have a garden in my home but it is too small. As we don't have lot of space to maintain the big one. Before days, we don't this small one even. But, i have asked my parents to create one in the existing unused empty space to give some natural look to the home with the multiple plants (flower and fruit plants).

I don't have a garden as I live in an apartment but I'm always looking for nice rocks to crawl under in some gardens.

Even the smallest balcony that receives a few hours of sunlight can support a small or large pot of Chives for salad greens or adding to a baked tater. You get the added bonus of pretty purple blooms so it is edible and pretty.
Chives are biennial, multiply, and each plant lives two seasons before it dies. I think the blooms are on the second year plants.

A small space doesn't mean that we're limited in what we can plant.
