Favorite summer holiday
I realize we have members from many parts of the world so I am modifying this just a bit from my original intent to allow you to mention your favorite summer holiday.
When I was a kid, the 4th of July was my favorite holiday of the summer season. School wasn't always out by Memorial day and usually started right after labor day. So the 4th was the perfect one; last years school forgotten, next year far enough away to not be a concern. Warm weather, ice cream, watermelon and maybe a couple of boxes of sparklers which were way more fun than lightening bugs.
After a meal of hamburgers, hotdogs and homemade tater salad it was time to make the ice cream. It was usually peach ice cream, hand churned in an old wood churn using a 50 pound block of ice. On the years the peaches failed the flavor was something else.
What is your favorite summer holiday and why?

Although I am not really into many holidays, Independence Day is one that I love. Between the yummy smells all over the city of good old fashioned Texas BBQ and watching fireworks, you can't help but feel good!

Victoria Day (Third Monday in May) because it's the unofficial start to summer.
Fireworks, food and drink are the usual celebration supplies.
And Labour Day (First Monday in September) because it's the unofficial end of summer.
Last long weekend before the kiddies are back in school.

It would have to be Christmas. Its summer here for us then, and it generally means going down to the beach pre-Christmas, and then spending the day with family surrounded by food. Nowdays, that hasn't really changed, we still go down to the beach, but we do the opening of the gifts on Christmas eve, so that Christmas day is spent with family and friends only.
I'm not really one for traditions, except this one, because my girls love the whole Christmas eve thing.

Samhain has always been a favourite, I don't really know why as I don't do anything special for it - it's just that time of year which I really enjoy.

It was when I thought of our southern hemisphere members that I modified the post. Christmas in the summer, (even though the real event must have taken place in warm weather) just freaks me out.

I had to look that one up. And I agree that is a very pleasant time of year.

In my country we don't have summer holiday because we don't have summer season. Why do you go tour our country? we have many good places.

Oops, the language thing got us there. I forgot that holiday= vacation (leisure time) when translated.
Do you like to surf, lay around or girl watch when you go?

Small kids have craze of summer vacations because in that time they get rid from their busy school schedule. In that time a holiday at beach side is the best option.
