Not too long ago, Germany tried to wipe out an entire Jewish race killing millions in the process. A lot of them were kept as slaves and then later killed.

Jews have been through so much in their time and are getting on with rebuilding their lives and have made a bloody good job of it too.

There are still people out there that hate Jewish people but they are getting on with things.

My point is that I do not like the way people just talk about how blacks have had it hard as there are so many others in the same boat but the difference is that blacks stand out due to colour and are easy to use as an example. That in itself is a form of racism, to me anyway.

All of my ancestors were Jews....most of them killed during the Pogroms in Russia. The stories of how both sets of my great grandparents made it to this country are pretty damn horrific, as they all had the pleasure of watching their entire families get butchered.

They came to this country as children....with nothing but the clothes on their backs....they were all taken in by kind and generous strangers in the Jewish community (In New York) who sent them to school and taught them English. They all worked extremely hard to put themselves through college, and both sets of my great grandparents went on to start their own businesses (all which still exist today) and they made a good living for the families they created. I am extremely proud of all they accomplished... especially since they started out with absolutely nothing.

Even though I don't practice Judaism, you would not believe all of the antisemitism I've encountered in my lifetime. Not so much directed at me....but at my parents and grandparents. You'd be surprised at the lengths people go to to try to stick it to the Jew.

Oddly enough, I went to Catholic school. Almost the entire faculty was clergy...and they could not have been any nicer to me. Go figure?

To me, Jews are a great example of how to put the past behind you and not constantly beat on about it.

My god these people had it so bad that if anyone has a reason to be hateful and bitter, they definately have but they just carry on and damn, they make good business people. So much of Londons business is owned by Jews.

I was just a little annoyed at how often I hear racism towards blacks and 90% of the time, people actually ignore others that had it worse.

I've never known a bitter Jew.....and I know A LOT of Jews. Most attitudes have been....don't forget about the past, but don't dwell on it either. Every Jewish family I know started out the same way...whether they arrived after the Holocaust or they came earlier.....they all had *nothing*, but they went on to make great lives for themselves.

I consider the Jews I know to be very "determined" and hardworking.

...people like that do tend to make enemies along the way...and that's unfortunate.....but, that's life.

Hell no! It's never even an issue....not even with the Holocaust survivors I know.

What I've come to understand from them is: they were so grateful to be "free", that they wanted to give back to the people and the country that gave them so much. I am lucky and proud to know some of the biggest philanthropists in my area....and it is astounding how much they want to give to their community and its people. It's very moving. Many of them give anonymously, too.

Those are the people who amaze me more than anyone, and most antisemites claim to be Christian. I'm a Christian myself and have heard the reasoning, but it just blows me away.

Jews have shown the world that your situation is dictated by your resilliance, attitude, and determination, not your past experience. Nobody has more right to claim abuse than Jews yet they have consistantly refused to accept the role of "victim".

I guess I forgot to mention that they would have their children on that farm who would also grow up on the farm and so on. The successive generations might build their own farm nearby etc but the point is, no crowded cities to be raised in.

How does racism develop?

I grew up in a very small city in a very rural state, serious racism has always been foreign to me.

I don't think it's healthy to scrunch so many people together like we do.
