Win 95 will run on 16mb of ram. Windows 98/ME will as well as long as you install on a machine with more than 32mb! (Swap the drive over after install).

You must put the two different sizes into 2 different banks.

Its not just that, different RAM has different CAS and MHZ speed requirements and if you put a CAS 4 and a CAS 5 in the same board sometimes it wont work, same with the different MHZ speeds.

Check the RAM, it should have a label on the side telling you what MHZ the banks are.

well damn I just got my ram today and it doesn't work. When I put it in. It says i only got 32mb of ram. ;[ so thats less then what I have now.

That probably the CAS sim, sometimes 512mb withh report as 256mb in the wrong board etc. You need to check before you buy.

Over 80GB of space on this computer. I need to clean it out though, so much junk on here. Plus, it's a compaq, so you gotta expect it to run slow. My Jump Drive has more space than what your comp had

We are talking about RAM not Hard Drive space


This machine is a Compaq as well, I am dreading doing a cleanup myself, its got a 500gb drive in it!
