Klose is Polish after all. His mom played in Polish hand-ball national team. Same for Borowski and Podolski. Their German language skills ar so and so.

That's a funny I don;t mind Gerries at all. They can be quite nice people if they build teir power through their own work rather than the work of others.

Anyway, Costa Rica lost to Ecuador so Poland is out at this point. Cheering for the Czechs now.

Didn't know that! Interesting info - I knew the others were Polish

this is the world cup, not a friendly. Let's not forget a team has to be of a certain standard to make it to the finals.

However, excuses aside, I blame it on the weather (or the pitch, or the ref).

There was a guy who bet 100 pounds on Trinidad & Tobago for the England game...
Can you imagine what this man went thru during the first 80 minutes of the game?
How much would he have made if Trinidad had won??

Gotta say I have no idea why Becks and Gerard were so far back in their own half for soooo long.

It mystifies me how much defensive football is played by England, especially given the firepower available to them.

And without John Terry's boot in the first half, that game would have had an entirely different complexion.

Still, they're through (being Irish I'll begrudge them and it will be good to see what Rooney can do on the world stage if unleashed.

All the best,
Tom

Sven-Goran Eriksson has mastered his new tactics.

He is planning to fill Gerrard's midfield slot, and hopes that Beckham can put some penetrating balls into the box. Nice tackles should make Lamps hard. Also, a new move called the "Wayne King" will come into use, where Rooney bends over Crouch and shoots.

What would Father Ted have to say about that!

Probably much the same as Father Jack come to think about it...

Indeed, watching the match it did remind me on occassion of the All Priests Over 75 match.

All it needed was that nun to come out and give Crouch a stiff one up the Bishop Brennan!

Well, England can win it with Rooney, that much is clear - Lennon made the most of his few minutes as well.

But we were flat before Rooney, it's obvious.

I thought Crouch's goal was textbook big-man-on-the-end-of-the-cross-at-the-far-post. Seriously. They should put that in the schoolbooks.
