I remember sitting in a motel room in Florida at the age of 20 while listening to love the one you're with.

That was the day before the day that I hopped a plane back home to VT after a nine month stint. I'd hitch hiked there.

I ate coconuts and grapefruits, slept under picnic tables and stole packages of cold meats form convenience stores, it was kinda fun. Whenever someone stopped to pick you up (hitchhiking) you could always rely on them getting you stoned, it was glorious.

Is it possible that we generally only remember the good times? Well yes but despite all the hardship, it was glorious. One time a guy picked me up and I ended up getting him high, which was a bit unusual because it was usually the other way around. That was ok too. It was simply glorious. Not many gays back then. Not that I have anything against gays but that's just the way it was. There was little worry to hitch hiking. Oh sure gays were out there, but they were cool.

Take a look at my girlfriend, she's the only one I got.
Not much of a girlfriend, I never seem to get a lot.
