That's what I'll never understand. Obviously, you and Shawn have no real problem with each other (a little healthy competition is never a bad thing), yet so many people want to try and stir up bad blood between the two forums. Each forum fills a niche, so I don't see why people want to create a problem

No clue either, I dont' really go to DP much anymore to tell you the truth, v7n is where I spend 80% or more of my time..
Both have good points, both have bad points, nothing in this world is perfect, why does anyone on either side want to rip either forum apart with BS comments? |

True dat... V7N and DP could each have 10x more traffic, and still coexist. There's plenty of room for everyone. Hell, I've been a member longer here than at DP (and even before it was V7N when it was some other forum/domain).
My primary goal with the DP forum was to have a place to support my users (products and tools)... everything beyond that was kind of accidental to be honest.
I'll be the first one to say that all the DP vs. V7N or DP vs. SitePoint threads (especially on DP) are pretty lame. I'm a coder/developer, not a webmaster/Internet marketer. I enjoy making dorky stuff like the Spy and the tools, but uhm... even then it's all just a hobby. My "real" job is making ISP billing/accounting software.
Wait... what the hell am I talking about? Time to go back to coding I think. |

Actually, I really like SitePoint... if I had the time, I would hang out there more than DP. It has more stuff that I'm (personally) interested in (more programming stuff and less marketing stuff).
Unfortunately I just don't have the time... I barely have time to skim DP even... |

Oh yeah... no doubt there. I'm not a big fan of advertising (and especially pop-ups). I'm just talking about the activity of their programming sections more than anything.
It's more of what I'm personally interested in... I would trade their programming activity for DP's marketing/AdSense activity any day. |
