That goes for other contractions such as:

you're = you are
they're = they are

Also the apostrophe indicates possession. Thus the wing belonging to the airplane is referred to as the airplane's wing for short. The cup of coffee belonging to Cricket that no one must touch, is referred to as Cricket's damn coffee.

I get confused with 'its' myself, maybe someone can help us with that one!

I think I spelled it correctly, Sita. Lets you know you are alive, I believe to be correct. What's unusual is that a sentence is not ordinarily started with that word in that context.
