I am thinking that this library book is overdue, and I do not wish to go downtown to return it. Yet, I wish to pay a higher fine even less. So I will probably return it today.
Whew. That thought was so exciting, I hope you were all sitting down so you weren't bowled over by it.

People still go to the library, kool.
Wonder how much longer it's gonna last where they let you touch the books.

We have a new library here that is AWESOME!!! We went on Saturday and then afterwards stayed downtown (our little downtown area) for a Veterans salute with festivities. We had 4 F16s fly by and then Santa and his elves parachuted in. It was a treat.
Anywho...watley, our library doesn't do fines. This is the first time I've heard of a library system not having late fines.

There will always be a role for hard-copy libraries, as long as there are hard-copy books being sold.
I used to collect books, but after the fourth or fifth time moving an increasingly heavy and dusty collection, I've become much more selective. I use Gutenberg.org for anything public domain, and the library for anything newer.

You have a really kool site.
I once had quite a large collection of antique (literally) books. I used to buy from antique pickers and do some picking of my own in New England.

Be nice to the library people, and they might be nice and waive your fines.

Thanks. I started it on the spur of the moment, but it seems to keep on going somehow.
Antique books are neat - but hard to take care of and store properly. I have a small collection but generally don't seek to add to it at this point. I take it you no longer collect them?

Right, I sold the whole collection 5-6-7 years ago along with many antiques in the house, as well as bulging storage sheds and gutted mobile homes packed with thousands of antiques. It was a serious hobby for me for about 20 years. I used to do a few antique shows near Boston once a week in the winter, a few flea markets and a few garage sales in the summer. My books numbered in the multiple thousands at all times because I would sell only valuable ones or keep ones of special interest in my private collection in the house, yet I kept picking. I would often just buy a whole lot of books at a time from a house or garage sale, picker etc ...

Why do kids like texting? Why not just pick up the phone or email?

Cheaper, plus text means one doesn't have to show emotions - the begining of the de-humanized generation.
I know, I'm a right little bag of worms tonight

I don't know there, G10. My question to myself on that is:
What would my mom or dad have thought about all this text on a forum and how much emotion can be conveyed?
It is pretty amazing how much goes through with just a few words and some silly, simple little images.

I'm thinking if I hear 1 more add to sell me more Dell support I will probably shoot someone.
Sitting on hold for Dell tech support for a DOA XPS laptop. Sucks. Dell has been great equipment for me for 10+ years
Got someone...they sound like they are in India and I'm calling from the US.
Oh boy, they want me to call another number!!!!
OOOPS...the other number is the number I called to get this genius on the phone
So now he's going to transfer me to the right place...I have great confidence this will work out
Hey it did work!! And somebody answered right away! Now I'm getting somewhere
OOPS...he has to talk to his manager
I have to laugh or I might chew this poor guy a new one! And I did tech support for a few years early in my career! We'd have been fired for some of the crap that qualifies as tech support today!
Enough rant, I'm going to fix my son some dinner while I wait.
OOOPS...scratch the while I wait part....they have to call me back in 10 or 15 minutes
Well, at least I can fix some dinner for us
