If the folks at the psychic hotlines were really psychic, wouldn't they call you first?

If a book about failures doesn't sell, is it a success?

Currently at this exact moment I am thinking about that 128GB Micro SD Card that I did not buy that was on sale yesterday for $20 bucks. My wife could of used it for her tablet and the plethora of pics she has stored on it.

At that price it was probably a fake and really only an 8GB.

Just trying to make you feel better.

After 2 hard days (my days) Making a monster fridge fit in small hole I'm trying to recall why it was I wanted kids. I am just joking about that part.

Now what I think of that budget builder that built the house is not a joke. He and his subs are the joke. Anyone who can not frame and finish any more accurately than that should not be licensed to build.

"Holmes on Homes". I'm sure someone will find or say something about him that isn't good, but I really like his shows. I've learned a lot from them, but it doesn't mean I can perform most of the work. Some, maybe - but most - not for me.

At the very least, I'm better educated when dealing with various contractors I use now, and am a better judge in terms of the quality of their work.

Never really watched that one. I've learned some tidbits here and there from most of the older shows.

The modern ones tend toward the dramatic; breaking things and demo in a completely unsafe manner.

Mike is basically is called in to fix the previous contractors shoddy work. I'm sure the "Holmes" shows are all scripted. For a lot of other shows on the various networks (mostly I watch HGTV) are especially dramatized. The more drama, the better the ratings, and then the advertisers and network like it. With the Holmes shows, they usually don't usually contain much drama - just the bad work other contractors have done.

Mind you, if I did or contract out everything they suggest on the "Holmes" shows, I'd have a great house, but not sure I could afford all the expert-level things his contractors do on the show. But, they do it right, or as he says, "let's make it right".

The contractors that they use on the show, as I understand it (I've met one contractor he has used), give at least the labour for free, and I guess the show is their advertising.

If they are in a metro area said exposure could well be worth more than the labor cost. Some of the contractor's subs probably kick in some free labor also. I know I always gave special pricing to the decorators for their home shows and showcase projects.

The guy I met told me he spent about $70,000 out of pocket (material and labour) to be on the show doing the various projects in front of the camera. He told me he didn't get nearly that much back from the exposure of being on the show. For at least this one contractor, it didn't work out very well.
