Thanksgiving Around The World

Quote:
We generally think of Thanksgiving as a uniquely American holiday, but there's actually a long tradition of harvest-time celebrations and thanksgiving celebrations. http://people.howstuffworks.com/cult...nksgiving1.htm
Tell me about your family traditions for Thanksgiving. Will you be celebrating this year?

I'm American and we celebrate the way most Americans do. All the Family will go to one person's house. The host generally cooks the most of the food. While others bring side dishes, drinks, desert, ect. Our typical Thanksgiving meal consists of Oven Roasted Turkey, Stuffing with chicken pieces, giblet gravy, Mashed potatoes, Green Bean casserole, cornbread, cranberry sauce. There are sometimes other side dishes, depending on who comes. For desert, there is generally pumpkin or sweet potato pie and banana pudding. And again, depending on who else comes, other deserts. We pretty much just hang out and chat, have our meal, and just spend the day together. Everyone brings their own bowls and we all take home leftovers from everyones favorite dishes. We dont really watch football or TV at all, just hand out, chat, and eat. With the leftover turkey we usually make yummy Turkey and tomato sandwhiches or a turkey veggie soup. It's a nice day to just unwind, forget about the diets, and just relax and catch up with all the family.

I'm curious to see how other cultures spend the day. And because of my obsession with different cuisines, even more curious to see what kind of traditional dishes are served.
