Deepsand has passed. May you rest in peace.
I was shocked and saddened to hear that Deepsand, a long-time member of this forum and many others, passed away on November 14th in Bellefonte, PA. Over the last year or so he struggled with illness, which finally took it's toll on him last month. Many people have "sparred" with him online, some engaged in spirited discussions too. But I'd like to think of him as a friend who will be missed.
May you rest in peace Deepsand.

R.I.P My friend.
We had a lot in common and he knew a lot of the roads I travel on over in Jersey. He was a big help on this forum with his knowledge about anything. He has helped the moderators, admins, mentors and other regular members on this forum throughout the year's. Never forget him.

Lanny D. Boone, 67, of State College, passed from this life on Thursday, November 14, 2013 at Centre Crest Nursing Home in Bellefonte. Born on June 25, 1946 in Lewistown, Lanny is a son of the late Dale A. Boone and Rosella M. Stover Boone Allison of Millheim, who survives, along with Richard C. Allison, Lanny's stepfather.
Lanny was a 1964 graduate of Penns Valley Area High School. He was employed as a computer programmer. Lanny loved anything to do with computers and he also designed software. He was an avid reader of non - fiction books and would tell anyone that would listen about them. Lanny also enjoyed listening to public radio, attending the annual Philadelphia Folk Festival and had an immense appreciation for the great outdoors.
In addition to his mother and step-father, Lanny is survived by two sisters, Nanette Whitaker of Maywood, NJ and Deanna Boone-Domres (Chris) of Raleigh, NC and one niece, Alyssa Domres. Lanny was preceded in death by one sister, Donna Renno.

I think it would be nice if we let his family know that he was loved...

I did but I made it private. I did not realize he still had 2 sisters alive. I hope they are coping as best as possible.

Wow, I knew he was sick, I just didn't know it was that dire.
R.I.P. Deepsand, you taught me a thing or two.

No words indeed, but that was a lovely song as a tribute. Thank you, Cricket.
Deepsand was 'Boone' to those of us who were so fortunate that he considered us as close personal friends. He was teased as a teenager about the name 'Lanny,' and would never use it if it could be avoided. He was proud to call himself 'Boone,' as he was a descendant of the famous pioneer Daniel Boone.
I still can't fully believe that he is lost to us. I keep thinking that it must all be a terrible mistake...

He frequently signed his messages to me as Boone and he always added "may the future be kind". I'm going to miss him.

Passing of deepsand
I couldn't find a thread on this topic here on this forum, but on another forum I belonged to a while back (which is no longer online), we addressed deepsand's passing, and the thread was revived at this time of year with some comments, mostly appreciative, to help remember him by.
So, I thought I'd start a thread here so that everything he added to forums like this one would be remembered - both good and perhaps not so good.
There were more than a few forum members that didn't fair well by engaging with him in various thread topics. And, conversely a lot of people were amazed by his knowledge of just about everything technical, and not so technical and ended up learning a lot - I know I did!
I personally, was amazed by his knowledge about anything related to SEO, and more specifically his understanding of PageRank, SERPs and anything "algo" related as well.
Anyhow I thought it respectful to remember him on this, the anniversary of his passing.

He was one of the good guys though his 'bite' could be fierce at times. He is missed and remembered.

I joined WPW forum back in 2007, not knowing much about SEO, I followed most of the Senior members threads, and enjoyed following a lot of deepsand's contributions, ultimately learning a lot back then. HTML, MJ, Steve were great contributors, and even Doc chimed in now and then. I witnessed more than once, deepsand and MJ going back and forth for what seemed to be a dozen or most posts on some small details which were not that crucial to the thread topic.
