Facebook Is Reportedly Buying Drones

Quote:
TechCrunch is reporting that the company is in talks to buy drone maker Titan Aerospace for $60 million. Yes, that is far less than what the company is paying for WhatsApp.

Titan Aerospace makes high-flying, solar-powered unmanned aerial vehicles. Here’s a look at the Solara 50:

It wouldn't put it past me all that money has gone to Mark's Head. Not sure why anyone going to a social app clicks on ad's anyway. Groupon seems more a money maker than Facebook to me.

It must be nice to buy anything you want.

Facebook definitely has the funds for drones. I read that they want to provide internet to the world, to those who don't have it. Apparently the drones will do so.

I'm surprised there aren't easier/better ways to get internet access to remote people. I'm curious what the cost of running them would be compared to just setting up large wifi towers or using satellites. It's funny that drones seems like the best decision to them.

Mark Z isn't a stupid guy. THere is obviously something else behind it. I mean, he just bought What's App and now he's pouring money into drones?
