Question What was the first search engine?

What was the first search engine? Who was the founder of it? Does it still exist today?

According to me: The first Web search engine was Wandex developed by Matthew Gray at MIT in 1993. It is now defunct.

It was Archie.

Check out this link to get some history of search engines.

FYI, I removed a few replies in this thread as those people copied and pasted content with no linkback.
