I remember when ..................

I remember when you could buy a whole calf for what 6 pounds of chuck roast costs now.

What do you remember?

Around 1988-89, I wanted to upgrade my 104MB hard drive to a 540MB drive. Cost? I think it was only $995.

4 Meg Ram, that is funny! That is old school. Do you still keep it somewhere?

I remember gas being $0.17/Gallon (and they pumped it for you and cleaned your windows, checked oil, etc). My friend in high school had a VW bug and with a dollar, we could drive around all night.

My first car that I bought in 1971 was a really nice 1965 Mercury Comet and it cost me $100. Try to buy a 6 year old car in that shape now - would be a few $1000!!!

I can remember working in a gas station when gas was 39 cents per liter.
It's now pretty cheap at $1.20 per liter.

I remember when the telephone used to ring at home and everyone would say "I'll get it" and would run with anticipation to pick up the phone just to see who was calling. And If we had to make a long distance call I remember my parents would have a miniature hourglass by the phone to make sure we would not talk too much because of it being long distance.

I thought we had stepped into the advanced future when they introduced the channel changer box. It was wired to the back of the TV, and we tripped over the cord a lot, but you didn't have to get up to change the channel (us kids were the channel changers before the box came out) gave more channel choices too - not that our roof antenna could bring in all the signals though.

I also remember using a tape drive to store Vic-20 programs.

You don't look that old to remember pricing that low!

My father drove me to a hockey practice out of town on a Sunday morning many years ago. It was a rink that we had never been to. It was available to the team and we took it, apparently because it was very low cost to rent. (We must have had a very bad game the night before.)The rink was located near a gas station where he filled the car up with gas that morning. 39 cents per gallon. Sheesh!

When you hear the phrase, "it's an old barn", this was exactly that - an old barn converted to a hockey rink. If you wanted to know what the weather was like outside, you just had to find the biggest holes in the barnboard walls and you could see outside.

I remember when part of the justification for the cost of cable is that there weren't supposed to be any commercials.

The current crop of CEO's missed that memo.

I remember when I used to look forward to watching popular Box Office Movies every Sunday Night on ABC with my parents. They would show relatively new movies and Box Office Block Busters like Star Trek, Star Wars, Superman and Indiana Jones ect. I remember getting giddy just listening to the ABC intro every Sunday Night. Nowadays it's just and afterthought. Good times growing up.
