Programs for editing video (such as google video clips)
Hello people,
anyone know of any half decent ways to cut segments of downloaded video and past them together? Is there some sort of program available to do this???...
If someone knows of a place to download such a program it would be most appreciated.
Cheers
Greg

Is it limited to Google Video like clips?
If it's not, then Adobe Premier is a pretty nice tool for video editing.

Well, I have some google video clips that I have downloaded that I want some pieces from.
That's all really... there isn't too much ummmm.... splicing... just taking little pieces from larger clips is pretty much what I'm after Avinash.

Well... I found this software (Shareware) : http://naevius.com/gvi_converter.htm
First of all, you need to convert .GVI - .AVI . Once you are done with this process, use any open source video editor.
Actually, if I rename any Google video file (.GVI file) to .AVI, it works with DivX Player. Here you can find more info about this .GVI format.

Oh Avinash.... thank you so much!!! I'll have a play with this tonight. In the mean time though, keep a look out for a package in the mail. I am sending you one genuine Orc egg...
Now this is no ordinary Orc egg... this is an egg from Kyoto... who has established herself down this way as the Queen of all Orc. The Sire is Iliketashaggachicka. So, as you are obviously well aware of, the egg has phenomenal blood lines.
It's a female.... ;-)

LOL... well, whenever I meet Americans (in real life) they always say.... *putting on my best american accent* Oh yeah, Nu Zeland... Lord of the Rings."
As if that's all we are known for...
Hmmm... what about splitting the atom... giving the right of vote to women first... and a host of other things??? Nope... Lord of the Rings. Haha... hence, I Orc alot.

Huh. Lord of the Rings wouldn't even come to my mind if I were thinking about New Zealand.

You are one of the few. It was filmed here... Peter Jackson was the director... Weta Productions did the majority of work on it... we make millions every year from American tourists visiting and going to the very spots where their favourites scenes were shot.
I've been to the States probably 40 times and every single trip since Lord of the Rings came out I'd hear - over and over - the relationship between Lord of the Rings and New Zealand being the first thing out of someone's mouth after meeting them.

Hey all.... long time reader but just joined. Sorry if I have posted this in the wrong place. Anyways can someone please suggest a good/great video compression tool. I bought a cheap program at staples and I am only getting 2 to 3 mins clips down to about 4-5 mb... I know there has to be something better out there? Hoping even for free. Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance.....
Jman..

i know one software that can compress video- VidLogo by geovid.com. it's not free, actually, but not an expensive one and has a free trial. it compresses video by converting one format to another, and also can add watermark!

Thank you! I will take a look at it.... I have one now but it just dont get them as small as I feel they can get. I would think that a 10mb clip should be able to get compressed to a least 2 mb?? I may be wrong?? But I will try out the free trail and see what happens. Thanks again for the help....
Jman.

I would just use windows movie makers. It can be found by clicking on Start - All Program - Windows Movie Maker.
