Another school shooting on CNN, in Pennsylvania !
Another school shooting is being reported in the news. This one on CNN, it happened in an Amish School in Lancaster Pa. The news just reported, multiple victims, with 3 taken to the hospital so far. They range in age from 6 to 15 and one is in critical condition. They just reported from AP news, that the coroners office confirms 6 dead !
They are also reporting the "alleged" Shooter is dead. I don't understand why these idiots have to involve children !! ?? If they have a death wish, just shoot yourself and leave children out of it, they are hurting and killing these children and it makes me sick. Not to mention the ones who arent physically injured will be emotionally scarred forever !!
I just don't understand why this happens, and why does it mostly seem to happen in the United States.
Sorry for the rant, it just upsets me.
Linda

I wrote an article for a newspaper a while back on this issue.
1- because it indirectly affected me
2- because i consider it to be one of the greater evils in life
Before asking a question like this, you have to learn the true facts. A school shooting more or less indicates poor selfdiscipline as a result of poor discipline in the home. Poor selfdiscipline could be evident in many of the potential influences of school shootings like the bully, the parent of the bully, the shooter or retaliator, the parent of the shooter or even the uninvolved neighbor.
Someone once said something like emotionalism means puting feelings above reason and reality and that it means taking someones immediate emotions as standards of truth and guides to action.
In other words one's emotions become "the law". When this law is broken the "violated" feels justified in retaliating.
It is absolutely sickening to believe that one "theory" has it that school shootings have surfaced in a time of lower moral standards in American society, i.e. pervasive moral relativism, that the alleged acceptance of moral relativism has taught children that there is no moral standard to live by and that as a consequence it is okay to kill...
I think one of the reasons for the phenomenon of school shootings is taht youth and adults alike, today are "nihilistic", therefore without a belief in God. To some, disbelief in God precludes one's immorality, or lower standards of "morality".
I know that a school shooting leaves us questioning why there is so much violence. A young 'child' or teenager, or simply a human is disabled, or worse, Killed injustly. But isn't madness like this bound to happen?
As to WHY? this happens, there is nothing that specifically answers your question of why this happens. But think about it, it's like asking why bad things happen.
In the Bible scripture doesn't give us a simple answer but it does give us an overall reason to why such evil exists in the world, and it's found in the early chapters of Genesis.
But it's important to remember that God can and does turn evil around and use it for good, and in my own 'personal' opinion as to why in the US more so than else where, well i think its due to how todays society is formed.
I also believe that we should'nt be looking at only the 'shooter' in such situations, but the community itself.
Being upset is the least we can do...

I don't think it is an issue of not believing in God, and it is unfair of you to say that those who do not believe in god are less moral.

I have to agree, I am more "moral" than my two sisters who believe in god. In fact one of the reasons I believe I am so "moral" is because I don't believe I go to a place where I will be repented of all my sins. I don't believe I can ask some god for forgiveness. My life is now, the only one I have. If I don't live my life "right" I will regret it on my deathbed, I will not get a second chance.

Anyway, I have family in Lancaster and that is pretty upsetting to me. Luckily my cousins are in college and not of school age, but I am sure my aunt and uncle know people who have been effected by this. Lancaster is a very small place. Wow, I think I should go call my aunt.

These are symptoms of a sick society. If that would happen once, it would be just a disturbing incident but at the rate we get this sort of news from The Land Of The Free there is something really sick over there that needs healing.

Make bullets cost 5,000 dollars
So many people on this board SO QUICK to judge an entire nation, probably with little to no experience in that nation.
