I'm sorry that you feel that way, John. I really am.
I thought it was a great contest idea with a noble premise. I still do think that way.
As a participant, myself, I took an interest in the contest and an interest in my competitors.
I thought Trapper's "12 Blogs In 12 Hours" idea was brilliant. He took the contest to a new level with that move. He was thinking outside the box on that one. That is why I was rooting for him. That, and the fact that he took the contest very seriously and followed the spirit of the contest as well as the rules.
My challenge to the other runners up still stands. The purpose of my challenge is two-fold.
First, and foremost, I honestly don't feel right accepting the same prize as Trapper. It wouldn't be right.
Secondly, I was hoping that as many people as possible would join me because I think the recognition of Trapper's efforts would be another very positive result of your contest.
There was ugliness, for sure. One can only hope that something was learned from that.
But, there was also some greatness that resulted. And I think the contest was a success, overall.
Your contest inspired new bloggers, exposed quite a few lesser known blogs and forced some of us to step up our game.
And, what's also great about it, is the fact that I think the effects of your contest will be long lasting.
Many of the contestants plan to continue to blog about other blogs (known or not). That's huge, IMO.
And, lastly, I personally learned a few things about blogging and about people.
So, again, thank you to you for holding the contest.
And, if there is $100 in cash in my future because of it, I still want Trapper to get half of it and I still challenge others to do the same. If there $100 worth of V7N schwag or gift certificates in my future, then send mine to Trapper. And, if there is no prize at all in my future, then I hope, at least, that Trapper gets to walk away from this, knowing that he played a good honest game, and he played it very well, and it was noticed and appreciated by many.
*I'm getting off my soapbox now and I'm takin' it with me.
