Football is called 'soccer' by nobody other than Americans Scriptman!

...and maybe others that I'm unaware of!!!

Football is a thugs game simple. the only sport in the UK where fans can't have alcohol in the games, a sport where the players don't have respect for officials etc etc.

It's a sad state of affairs and the pay they get is disgusting.

I hate football personally. The social ramifications it brings on society/innocent people is ludicrous. Don't travel by train on a Saturday during football season in the UK, don't go into many cities when 'derby' games are on (two teams from the same city). etc etc

I prefer Rugby & American football. Soccer football, only at the time of soccer world cups. Used to be a fan of Man U when Beckham, Giggs, Nistelrooy, Solskjśr & co were all in it together. Now, I just stick to international games.

Cookies and biscuits are completely different recipes! Biscuits are hard and crunchy, 'Biscottum' is the latin where the term is derived, meaning twice baked.

'Ham', or 'a Ham' is a cut of meat from the 'leg'. If its uncured its Gammon, which can be fried. If it's uncured then fried it's 'green gammon'.

Bacon is from the loin or the belly and is either dry or wet cured. It's never from the leg (Ham).

Damned American generalisations!!!

I think the main difference between US English and 'proper' English (laughs self righteously to himself ) is that we have far more specific terms, where as you guys bracket many things under the same names...especially for food.

Ex Michelin Chef and food lover if you were wondering.

If you are referring to American Football, then I am all on board. One of the reasons why I love American Football is because the season is not too long and is not drawn out over the whole year. Therefore since the typical NFL season is not too long, it gives more "weight" and importance to each and every game.

Another reason why I love American Football is that it's a very team orientated sport, which means that not just one player can essentially take the team to the Championship. It takes a couple of real good players on both sides of the field (Offense and Defense)to have a long successful run.

Each game is sooooo drawn out though so it makes up for the shorter season. Besides the football season is 9 months not a whole year.

There are no football teams that succeed with 1 or 2 good players, so I think you have a false perception of football.
