So mad at myself...
Ok...just need to vent. A potential client called Monday evening. And I couldn't call him back yesterday because I had no voice. Well today I have a little bit of a voice but feel like major crap. So I decide that I should probably call him back since I really strive to provide customer service. But my mouth and brain weren't working together and I think I totally screwed it up and probably won't get the account which would have been fantastic, fun and challenging.
So mental note...wait until you feel better to call a potential client back!

Many people don't like to be kept waiting, so that was a difficult choice you had to make.
Can you explain to them that you aren't feeling like yourself?

I probably wouldn't have waited either. Ya win some - ya lose some.
Who knows - he may hire you anyway!

Thanks guys. I apologized up front for not returning his call asap as I haven't been feeling well. I think he could probably understand unless he thinks my voice always sounds this way But I did send an email and hope he returns it. He put me on hold and we were disconnected. I then left a voice mail as well. I know he was assisting a customer. I can only hope he understands.
Thanks guys

Biggest problems in business today are lack of communication and making the customer feel important, you got both covered so you'll probably get the job if you ask me

A friend of mine in sales doesn't believe there is such thing as a dead lead unless the person is actually dead.
Call them back and demand their custom!
It won't work but could be fun

I think you did the right thing by not waiting. Since you sent the email, wait a bit, and if you don't hear from him, call back.
What do you have to lose, if you don't call then you'll never know if calling would have made a difference.

Very true pctec! lol
You have all made me feel so much better. I was beating myself up but will now wait and hope he responds to my email. I will probably follow up on Monday too if I don't hear back. He manufactures his products in Mexico but has a store in an upscale mall here so I'm sure he can be quite busy. So...once again thank you all.

A futher agreement. Not calling would have been much worse. You don't want to give the impression that you don't return calls. You did what you could and what the majority of us here would have done.
If it doesn't work out, others will come along. There's no beating microbes.

Ok...I had to find this thread to say you all were so right. And ewomack, you hit it exactly! So...they guy never called me back. But I just spent an hour on the phone with a lady who is hiring me to do her website for a new magazine. My experience in publishing (which she didn't know when she called) kind of sealed our deal. Now I better do a darn good job!!
Anyway...you guys here are so great. Thanks again for helping me through this!!!

Let me preface that i'm not a heavy drinker, nor do I hardly ever get drunk. Now, a friend of mine came in from out of town, the day before an important job interview. That evening my friend introduced me to my first taste of home made whine.
At the interview the next day the owner of the company ran me out of the office. He said to come back when I didn't have the bottle flu.
Point of the story, I got the job. Point of the story to you, don't count yourself out...until your out.
