I've seen some here say they don't care for Clear Channel. This should make you happy

Because of them, where ever you go there's the same radio statios playing the same songs. There's no local flavor anymore. Corporate offices telling DJs what to play? What the Hell?
There's also the 'pay for play' to worry about. Record companies can buy their way anywhere in the Top 40 by paying enough money. A song being number one doesn't mean that people like it, it just means that it's played the most.
They're one of the biggest reasons I have my own show on a college station, where I can do relativly what I want without worry.

Huh. When I was living in Seattle I used to listen to C89.5. It's run by a public high school, so no adverts at all.

Yep, what waffles said. It totally killed radio. All the stations play the same stupid songs. All our alternative stations here went bye-bye as soon as Clear Channel bought everyone up. The only good station, which luckily comes in by me, is a college radio station. The rest are all the same, and they suck.

There's always streaming radio. That's probably the way to go now if you want to hear real stuff instead of Brittney Spears pop shit.

Streaming radio doesn't work out so well when you're in a car, which is about the only time I listen to the radio. If I am at home, I listen to a cd or my ipod.

With Clear Channel going private there's talk of returning local control to a local level which would fix much of the problem.
