Solar Eclipse`

Did any of you watch the solar eclipse today (with correct viewing apparatus of course)?

Well, the world didn't end, like so many conspiracy theorists claimed it wood. Whew! Good thing because I just got my car detailed today.

Had it on my mind. I missed it. It was a partial eclipse here. It went dark apparently downtown but I did not notice as I was busy with other stuff at the time.

I caught a video of somewhere in the US where it was a total eclipse, and at the full eclipse, it looked almost dark as night. As soon as the moon was moving out of the path of the sun light (and I'm talking less than a minute or so at most), it brightened up very, very quickly.

Too bad total eclipses are a rare phenomenon in my part of the world. I did catch a few snaps from NASA while it was on.

I believe the next total eclipse in 2024 will be visible in our area. Got a few years to prepare.

I went out with the proper glasses and saw the start and the totality which for us was about 95%.

The glasses are so dense you are better off viewing on TV and experiencing the darkness first hand. At 95%, I called it a 7/8, it wasn't much darker than a heavy overcast day or immediately before a heavy thunder boomer.

Its funny cuz this would have been my first solar eclipse since i was 8yo where i missed it by seconds. And this year when i was prepper and had the equipment i still missed it because i was misinformed and only witnessed the penumbra not the actual eclipse which was occurring further south than where i had researched.

The eclipse happened during daytime in North America. How did it matter whether the sky was cloudy or not? It would've been night time in Bangalore!

For some reason as an adult I absolutely don't care about it and it doesn't interest me at all.
