Defensive games can be as exiting as the high score games but most folks feel a higher level of frustration while watching because they want action.

Leafs played the Ducks last night in TO. It was a close game for about one period. Then the Leafs opened things up and came thru with a 5-1 win. I agree, I like the higher scoring over the closer games - as long as it's our team with the higher score. The close scoring games give me fits!

I did not post much yesterday as my head was in a fog from the anesthetic. I experienced several firsts. I had my first ever colonoscopy, IV and twilight anesthetic. They found some polyps. The largest of which is well within the 'safety zone'. While the path report will be a few a days the 1% risk factor for it being pre-cancer is about as low as it goes.

Monday I would have said this is a waste of time and money; just something to keep the out patient clinic working. Today I would say that on Monday I was wrong. The disgust of the prep is far outweighed by the benefits.

I will add that being the patient is far easier during the procedure that the waiting in the waiting room. I wonder if I can a small amount of that stuff for sleepless nights? ( just joking)

Get one if you haven't.

Well thank you. As I learned during my appointment waiting period almost all my friends had one much earlier than I but no one mentioned it. I guess people don't like to talk about it.

I on the other hand would spare you the misery of the weather we are about to have today. While the projected 71f sounds great and will certainly overpower the foggy overcast skies of the morning the thunderstorms, high winds and heavy rain will negate the temperature. You gotta love the Ohio River Valley weather patterns.

Since I have to go out for an allergy shot, I think the boss and I will collect our $5 in free play at the local casino / historical racing machine site.

Wow - if you look at that storm on radar, it's riding the Jetstream where converging winds from the north meet with the southernly flow and are riding up that trough that stretches down into southern Texas.

The west coast is getting the winds coming from the north (because the Jetstream has dipped way down to the south today) and temps are on the cool side. LA is 17C today (low 60's). Even parts of northern Mexico are around 17C today.

Weather is really effed up this winter.

We got the wind, warm and rain but not the storms so it was an okay day.

The Red Mile gave me $10 for old-timers day, I played for an hour and left with $15 minus a $5 beer. So $10 bucks profit. The had more people than normal in the afternoon. I guess cabin fever has hit.

We gotta get more posters in this thread or it going to be a long time to 100K.

If they enabled the signatures again, I'm sure there'd be more activity on the forum.

There is no official word on that subject. You know as much as I do but I kinda doubt it is going to happen.

So tell me something fun you are doing to entertain yourself these winter days.

Winter fun? I still work my own reduced hours because my wife is still working, so I don't really have a lot of free time. Having the extra $$ is Ok too.

Fun....hmmmm. We're doing a lot of planning for the future. I don't know if that's "fun" or not but it's necessary. Our home will be pretty busy soon when the kids are finished uni for the year.

What about you?

You may not be as old as I thought.

You poor guy, you have more than one in college at the same time?

My wife is planning an early retirement this summer, and I'm pretty much retired but have decided to keep a refined client list over the next two years. The youngest lad is graduating this spring with a BA in Commerce, while the older lad will graduate after next year, with a Masters degree in Urban planning. I think I'm going to have to learn to start drinking.

The way you worded that makes it sound like there may be a middle child or two.

I cut back on the client list my last few years but finally just plain could not climb the ladders any more and hung it up. After a few months off I then spent the next 4 years with a couple of small breaks getting one rental at a time ready to sell.

I rented the first of those projects to some real animals and that was a joy to behold.

Speaking of animals, the city my younger lad is staying in has a a "university rental area". Around the school there are hundreds of rentals homes for the uni students. I was mildly tempted to buy there, and rent out to students, but am too far away to manage the place. Most of the rental owners tend to cram as many students in as possible (7 or even 8 into a 3-bedroom bungalow). They have got to make some money, right? Needless to say, there are "thermostat wars", "dinner smell wars", "not paying utility share wars", "I'm not cleaning anything wars" etc. To be honest, I wouldn't want to spend one night there, but for junior, it's a means to an end.

For a brief time my sister worked for a rental cleaning company that did the newer apartments near the university. She swore that the students living in these new units never cleaned anything. That job did not last very long.

I can't speak to the condition of the female residences (and of course, some rentals out there are co-ed), but the guys? They're pigs. Honest to goodness pigs.

These wern't residences. They were off campus apartments. I imagine they were co-ed at least a few nights a week.

For the most part I agree with your assessment. After 35 years in the rental business I can say pigs come in both M F.

The day I first saw the house my son was moving into, the previous tenants (all 4th year graduates) were moving out.

There was more junk, and what looked like food and liquor stains on the ceiling, than there was junk on the kitchen floor and counters. It must have been a huge party.

I can't even find the words to explain what the bathroom looked like.

More rain for us. At least with snow no one expects you to go out and do anything.

This winter is very comparable to the historic data for winter of 36-37 and that was spring floods downstream from Lexington which have yet to be matched. My backyard which is high ground is still waterlogged like a very wet sponge.
