Like every other christmas, quite happy to take it easy and just chill out with my family and friends.
People running around this city like headless chickens trying to make sure that they have bought everything. Too much of a hoohar if you ask me

Ditto on the xmas bedlam. People buy so much so rapidly these days that most of the meaning of giving gets siphoned right out of the process. Every year I get at least a few gifts that outright say "that person really doesn't know a thing about me. Are we intimate enough to buy presents for one another?" Most of the shopping craziness stems from guilt of not buying presents, or of the panic of missing someone on the gift hierarchy and ruining their holiday spirit. I think xmas would mean a lot more to us if we stopped buying each other junk and started spending quality time with people whose company we enjoy.
...but otherwise I'm okay.

You know...I did just that this year. I actually had a cookie exchange party with some girl friends. We didn't get each other anything but just spent some great quality time with each other. Then we held a dinner party with our closest friends. Everyone brought a dish and we just had a blast. I have to say I believe I will make this a tradition b/c it was great to be with those people during this special time of year.

That's very nice to know. People around the world are sharing their love during this Christmas time. It doesn't mean they don't share it other times. But what I feel that we the human being always look for some excuse to celebrate, to do something for our nearest and dearest one, to let them know that we care for them, we love them, we want to do something for them. May be very silly gifts meant a lot to some one.
Any thoughts...........

My stomach is all in knots right now. I'm excited about Christmas and getting to see all of my family (plus it's my daughters 1st Christmas), but tomorrow I am telling my chiefs (I'm a firefighter) that I am quitting and going back to a different job. I'm pretty nervous about it

My father and grandfather we're firefighters. My grandfather eventually became assistant chief, and my father eventually quit the fire station to start a TV repair shop which became quite successful and is still in business today.

We got all of our shopping done today. I almost got into a fist fight with a little fella cause he wanted to be aggressive and ride on my rear in the parking lot of Toys R Us. I got out of the car to secure a parking spot that my wife couldn't get to because of traffic, and he started flipping me off. I waved, and said "Hi, how are you?" with a grudging look on my face. As he drove by me, he said "I'll see you in the store". Instead of getting out of his car and taking out his aggressions on me there, in the lot, he'd rather take it in the store so all the kids could see how loving their adult counter parts are in the Christmas season. Well, I saw him in the store, but he just looked away, thankfully. Anyway, that's the Christmas shopping season for you, it's a sick thing, but it's reality. Either way, I hope his kids enjoy all the gifts their overly aggressive dad gives them, and I wish to him and his own a happy holiday.
