Have you ever been banned?
Who's been banned from forums?
Back when I was first starting out building websites(way back in July), I joined a forum, made a few posts, then edited my signature bar to include a link to my first site. A few minutes later, after making another post, I noticed that the link wasn't in my signature bar, so I figured it just didn't save or something. So, I decided to try it again. I tried posting one more time, and low and behole, I got a message informing me that I was banned permanently for signature rule violations, with a rude message from the banning mod.
Another time, I noticed a bunch of traffic to my site from a forum, so I went to check it out. I left a post explaining how I found the forum, stating that I had received several visits from a link on that site. The next day, I returned to the same forum only to find that I had been banned. So I went to the post that I left, and a moderator left a post saying "Now you have seen, goodbye". I couldn't explain that one at all, I didn't leave a link to my site, I didn't curse, I didn't flame. That was back in August, I still get hits from that site.
Anyhow, that's my forum banning experiences, how about yours?

One time I got in an argument with a moderator at a forum, and I subsequently hunted him down, beat him to death with a baseball bat and was banned by the forum admin. I think it was a totally unfair banning.

I was banned from the ULC.net forums because of my political views.

too funny. Yes I have been banned. I was banned from a local competitor. I never said anything but they knew I owned my local website and they kept making changes similar to mine. They also tried to block me from seeing their website at all - whatever.

LOL @ JS
jumpenjuhosaphat: each forum has their own rules... you have to read them. Some dont care what you do or say, some will ban you for admitting you fart!

I have been banned on the local forum. I didn't do anything wrong. Moderators disliked me.

I learned that the hard way. That's why now when I join a new forum, I read up on all of the rules I can find. Even then, it can still get away from you. Case in point: I received an infraction for bumping a thread at a forum that said nothing in the rules against it. I asked the admin, and he pointed me to a secondary set of rules pertaining only the the forum I was posting in, not the entire forum. So now, if I am about to post in a new forum, I'll read up on the rules on that forum first to make sure there aren't any deviations from the "main" rules.

I was banned from a mortgage brokers forum, for offering web services in the "Services for Mortgage Brokers" section. Upon further investigation I found that the owner of the forum offers many of the same services.
He has never returned my calls, however he is local and I may pay him a visit just to freak him out.
Disabling my account was clearly personal, because there are many service providers allowed to post there, but strangely enough, none that offer web services.

I helped build a community site and forum about 2 years ago and it got fairly large. There was a major shift in ownership of the domain/content and that person didnt' like my views, ergo I was banned.
Oh well, I'm better off for it, no doubt in my mind. Also, can't take stuff like this too seriously. As long as your respectful to the wishes of admins/mods because this isn't a democracy, no one should be banned.

I think that is crossing the line, majorly. Get over it and on with life.

I had a similar thing happen with a competitor of mine here.
I noticed that he was submitting his link to the same places as me, just after me. It was like he was following me around or something.

I don't see what the problem with that is. I think you reacted like any normal, intelligent person would.
