When you talk about the giants of popular music, the ones who influenced or helped shape much of what came afterwards, you invariably mention:

Sinatra
Elvis
Dylan
Lennon/McCartney
Brian Wilson

You also include the late great James Brown.

Anyone who wants to hear the origins of R&B, Rap, Dance, Michael Jackson, Prince, etc needs to listen to this man's early recordings.
