Dealing with annoying Ebayers UGH !!
Hi all,
Boy is ebay making me crazy. Hubby does most of it, so he deals with all the stupid questions and comments he gets from people, but he shows them to me just to piss me off damn it.
Here's the latest, looking for wonderfully obnoxious replies from the best here, so here it goes.
One of our auctions on now is a vintage 1940s postcard, it's used with a nice one cent stamp and is postmarked and has writing on it, clearing showing in the scans of the card, front and back.
I put the website name and copyright 2007 on all our images because we got tired of people putting our images on their sites, and blogs, and even their ebay auctions.
So this MORON sends a question stating, ready, the card has a website addy on it so it's a definite repo !!!!
How do you even respond to an idiot like that ?? !! It drives me nuts !!
And thats right after another person on another auction that they won sent us, oops I'm new and I didn't mean to bid $102.00 so I'm not paying for this item. Help !!
But I know everyone here is so great at comebacks, I just had to post this on the forum.
Have a good one,
Linda

Laugh... I rarely sell anything on ebay. I usually use it as a last resort kind of thing. As for the accidental bidder, I would actually be mad about that one. Listing things on ebay costs money. If they had never bidded on an item before I might cut them some slack, but I would report them to ebay probably. You know what actually might help your sanity a little bit, taking common stupid questions and making pre-canned responses so you don't really have to think it about it too much. Just make a little folder with word or txt documents with your canned responses. I am willing to bet the one who didn't realize the website "watermark" was put on the picture and not the item will not be the only one. Better start making your canned response now, because it will happen again

We stopped doing ebay for a bit, it got too annoying. But we go there when we need some money, like an unexpected car repair or vacation money. In the day, we would occasionally do 1200.00 in a week, so can't complain.
We arent that heavy into anymore, been doing it for almost 10 years, getting alittle burned out now. As far as the bidder that backed out, we're just going to go with the back bidder.
I like the canned answers idea, put them in a folder labeled MORON responses. It gets kind of old when you put the actual shipping in the USA, and they email, what's the shipping to Kansas, ugh ! Geez read the auction it's right there, people just don't take the time to read.

What's happened to Ebay? I used to sell there all the time, made lots of money off of junk I didn't want, and now they place has gone through some bizarre transformation. I think some control freaks took over at the top. Plus the fees have gone sky high. Taking risks has become costly (i.e., will this piece of plastic actually sell? If not, I'm out a few bucks rather than a few cents). Plus the "nonpayment" notices have become inflexible and nasty. Ebay was once fun, now it's just another boring business. Oh well.

I know what you're saying, we used to put useless crap on and it all would sell. My husband found an old barber shops lighted pole in the trash one day, cleaned it up, put a new bulb in, it went for like 300 plus.
Then we noticed nothing was selling, its picked up some in the last few weeks, so we've been putting stuff on again, plus we're trying to get some gas money for our vacation. And like you said, we are cleaning alot of junk up, one mans junk is another mans collectible !!

I used to have a very demanding job where we would have to create 300+ page books with various photos and bios in very little time.
You would NOT believe what people would send in for me to work with. I finally created a DUMBASS folder that i kept all the amusing items in - and would pull it out later for a great big LAUGH.

Yeah, Ebay fees went up partially because it was more "stores" than auctions and partially because a lot of people we using it as cheap way to get links to their websites. It was being used in all kinds of ways that had little or nothing to do with auctions. Kind of a pain but what can you do?

Never really bothers me when people ask me dumb stuff, i just ignore em
I usually just sell my phone upgrades on there, always good for a couple of hundred quid once a year. Also, whenever I find some junk in the loft I will offer it on there too, just in case lol.

Ebay is annoying now. I used to use it to sell stuff and made decent money. But then all the scammers came on, ebay upped their rates, etc. They're a pain in the ass. I even liked to order off there occassionally, but in the past year I've had 3 people not send me my stuff, refuse to respond to emails, so I've had to file with paypal to get my money back. In most instances I got my money back, but weeeks later. In once case they only got like half of it back.

Yeah, as a buyer you really have to use one of the feedback tools to look at a sellers feedback and notice patterns that say, "Don't by from this scammer!!" I've been part lucky and part smart in buying lately but it means passing up bidding on some things.
