Amsterdam police rolls up Nigerian spammers network

I couldn't find anything about this in english yet, but the Amsterdam police has arrested 21 Nigerian scammers/spammers who are responcible for numerous scam emails. We all know those 'you have won the jackpot' and 'please help me to send 1000000000000.00 dollars to your account' emails those guys were sending all over the world.

Those guys were using 3 internet cafes to do their dirty work, those internet cafes have received police visits too and hard drives are confiscated for the investigation.

It didn't slow the spam down though, just a second ago I received another 'YOU ARE OUR JACKPOT WINNER' email.

Amen to that!

It seems like I get at least one scam email a day now... maybe they will slow down at least. That only leave approximately 99 more a day to eliminate...

Some of those were very amusing. My favorite was "our first Nigerian astronaut is stranded in orbit and we need your help to get him down alive!" There followed some scheme about depositing $100,000,000 or something in your personal bank account so they could "hide it" from some international institution who won't let Nigeria use the money to save the astronaut. I laughed myself dry.

The site Scamorama posts correspondence between scammers and their "victims" except these victims are messing with the scammers. Almost every single one of these is from Nigeria. It is actually quite funny how long they string the scammers along. One guy is up to 10 months of stringing them along in this correspondence.
