Whoa... soccer? I live in the US so that term doesn't come by too often...

I did go to a professional soccer game here as a kid... but the sport as a profession seems to have disappeared...

Why hasn't soccer caught on the US? Any theories?

Too fast for them probably. They prefer simple sports. Like "Nascar" involving rednecks driving round in circles, and American Football where they have to wear helmets and padding, and need to stop every few seconds. Also Americans are strange in that they actually like commercials. They have these "sports" with parades during the breaks advertising beer or something. The tv channels don't like soccer because there is just one half time break, no room for advertising like in sports such as basketball, which has "time outs" when the play gets too tough for them.
Me, I support Celtic.

It's probably fine if that's what you grew up on. I've tried watching it but find it numbingly boring. It's kinda like hockey on grass except the men wear short pants seem more, mmmmm, sensitive? You don't have to worry about those mean men and all that testosterone. You guys have seperate men and womens teams or just let them play together?

Or judging by this photo, maybe the girls wouldn't really fit in.

BEST TEAM IN THE WORLD: BRASIL

why soccer never made it in the USA:
for me that is quite simple - compared to american football or basketball it is actually quite boring. (don`t get me wrong, i like watching soccer, but i am european) if you ever watched a bad 0:0, than you know the exact definition of the term boring.
and then there is no history for the sport in the US. they played baseball and never quite got the soccer-fever.
and third reason: draws and offside! americans dont like draws and the offside rule is just to WHACK to even try to explain it to somebody!

hhhhm favourite football team, in England it would be West Ham United, In Scotland it would be Aberdeen, in Italy it would be Fiorentina as for National team it would be Holland .... as for the british isles (chinese day, english mum, irish grandmun, scottish grandad) well I guess it would be in this order, England, Scotland, Ireland, Wales, Northern Ireland.

Now my family are from New Zealand ..... but well they dont really play football ...
