Basically, the guy came home to his home town and didn't have anyone there waiting for him. He looked around in the airport and saw families greeting their loved ones, he wanted to have someone to greet. That's how it started.

Yeah, sad comment on society that hugs are a bit rare. Very sad that somebody felt the need to call the cops and have it stopped. I have become a hugger

Didn't used to be but between getting sober (yes, in AA we hug everybody that will allow it) and my son being born, it just felt right. Before, it would have been very uncomfortable. Now, I take the chance even with folks I don't know too well. You can tell just by body language if someone will allow, will encourage it, or pull away.

Poor guy.
He don't have a family or his family members didn't come to greet him?
He wont feel good to see families greeting their loves one and his family member didn't come to give a hug.

I don't feel sorry for him, he found a way to build a new family, and now he has all of the greetings that any one could need. I feel sorry for the people that found it disturbing enough to banish him from giving out free hugs. It's those people that need the hugs the most....
