I could use $1200 for a new notebook. I guess I better start buying tickets as well. Goodluck with TSSS.
(oh, and I'm also not asking for money btw.)

Estimable sir, it is a deliberate attempt to adapt my level of discourse to suit the prevailing context. The virtues of brevity and inordinately high post counts have been sung loud and often throughout every thread in the lobby here; should I then suffer the indignities of a paltry "contributing member" label any longer than necessary for having had the poor judgment to use an excess of verbiage in far fewer posts than the norm? Should I not feel free to profer the written equivalent of a verbal grunt of affirmation in a dialogue already so rich in detail and repartee that I could contribute little else? Nay: let my twin-word post be a lesson, a hallmark of more suitable web communication and a harbinger of things to come. Eventually, and with intense counseling, it is my hope to progress to a post of merely one word; I anticipate achieving this milestone sometime within the next six months. The ideal, of course, would be to rely solely upon an errant but ostensibly witty punctuation mark, or perhaps even a smiley of uncertain provenance; but I am not yet ready to embrace such powerfully brief symbols. To wit, sir, be not disappointed or decry the decline of a persona per se; it is merely an evolution, not a devolution.
Does that clarify anything?

With possible tuition costs of $30,000 coming up this fall, I'm beginning to think that I'll never make it to TSSS this summer.
Anyone win the lottery lately? ha.

What do you study...I have the same problem, but I am going to take a student loan...can't you do that over in the states?
A student loan is great because you don't pay back until you are earning over £15,000 (approx $30,000) and it gets wiped if it isn't paid back within 25 years. Plus it doesn't affect your credit rating, and no matter what wage/salary you are on, it is easily affordable. If this option is available, take it, don't let money take over your dreams .
If I had the money spare I would lend you it, but I am in pretty much the same position as you. Good luck, I hope you do get to go.
Regards,
Kieran Taylor.

Everything, except the space-time continuum and where to insert the flux capacitor.

Hello Chicgeek - What kind of return on my investment could I expect to receive if I funded your scholarship?
Alternatively, you might want to checkout lastminute.com as they usually have cheap flights.

Early music performance. And I'm in Canada, not the US. The trick is that I hope to go overseas (England), and the government doesn't subsidize that tuition. I'll probably end up with a line of credit. I don't even know at this point if I can make it over there...

Ah yes. Early music and North America don't often mix well. Though it remains one of my favorite types of music, when I put it on in my car my friends pretend to barf. I keep thinking that if I keep playing it eventually they'll get it, but years have gone by and I get the same "HEY! CHURCH IS ON SUNDAY!!!!" comments... etc...
Oh well. Good luck with the moola.

Write to some local businesses, they are usually happy to grant money, meaning you won't have to pay it back. Even better why not write to the college you want to go to, and tell them how much you want to go there (and that you can't afford it), I have known people in the past to have been granted tuition through doing this.
But I agree with Dustin07, why let money be a boundary, if you want to do it and it is positive, DO IT!
Why not start a fund on v7n and ask for people to donate, think, if every one was nice and donated $10, it would only take 120 people...may sound optimistic, but could happen .
Regards,
Kieran Taylor.
