I am greeted by John Scott, CEO, who immediately offers me a big hug and tells me he loves me.

I think that's why Mike finds it so fun. *nudge nudge*

So you are better than a zoo huh? Maybe I should move b/c it is definitely a zoo here. Oh wait...nevermind, I'd still have to bring my kids.

OK, after James's post I am absolutely convince the Japanese have it right. We should adopt bowing to each other as a sign of respect!

I agree. Society can not function without numerous bows and bounces.

Actually, your post just reminded me of last weekend when we were putting down mulch and pulling weeds. My son kept telling us we needed to pay him (he's 9). My husband explained that we all do things such as this on behalf of living at such a nice place. He didn't quite buy it. On the flip side, we do pay our kids weekly for keeping up their rooms and cleaning the 2nd floor (except for my office). They even clean their bathrooms. If we have to clean it, then they pay us. So they seem to always keep it clean even if it involves several moans
Thus child labour works pretty well here
