Wrestling?
Hey,
Do you think Wrestling is real? I don't think it is. Because the wrestlers beat each other tooooo much! Human can't afford that much HARM as much as the wrestlers do.
And today I watched a match, in which a 400 POUNDS wrestler jumped over another and he was still alive..... One wrestler threw the other one from a high CELL and he was still alive.
What do you think? Is it real?
Thanks

We could come up with V7n matches - I'm bettin a lot of people would pay to see people in here wrestle.

The stunts are real but the action/story isn't. try MMAs, they're real.

A long time ago entertainment producers realized that reality doesn't sell. The Quiz Show scandals of the 1950s revolved around that. They found that they needed to tweak situations to increase their viewership (see the movie "Quiz Show" for a not completely accurate dramatization). In short, the public doesn't want reality, they want situations manufactured for maximum entertainment. Not too surprising, really. TV wrestling, not all wrestling, follows this long tradition of giving the folks what they want. Why wrestling gets singled out over games shows, dramas, movies, soap operas, sports, memoirs, novels, and other forms of entertainment never made sense to me. The vast majority of entertainment remains manufactured.

There are a few things I don't understand (not the rules, but the intention). In the sports world, they include American football, racing (cars), and show wrestling.

I'm pretty much ditto on all of those, and I used to play American football. I still don't get it.

Racing is one of those things that until you have done some of it, you won't really understand it. It is not an intuitive spectator sport really. But if you get in a high end gokart even, and run some laps and begin to improve, you discover pretty quickly that what looks really easy is extremely technical, precise, and difficult. It is a subtle sport in many ways. And the same holds true whether it is Formula 1, NASCAR, GT, dirt bikes, etc. You have to know your machine and each track you run. For me, watching it is an appreciation of what it takes to be that good. That degree of precision, efficiency, knowledge, and skill is impressive. My on racing at least.
And if you get the chance to try it, the adreneline rush is HUGE!!!
