Problem with "Latest Blog Post" vB Plugin

This should probably go in one of the support forums, but there is no general forum for v7n, only for 3 specific products.

There is a problem with the "Latest Blog Post" plugin here on the v7n forums. Sometimes CARP kicks back an error and this error is output to the public, instead of just not displaying anything.

A while back I wrote a similar plugin for vB, and it uses magpieRSS instead of CaRP, and whenever a feed that a user inputs in their profile page doesn't work, then the plugin just doesn't output anything. That is probably the way it should be. Just a heads up.

My default answer for those having trouble with the latest blog feature is to run their feed through Feedburner.

I'm not sure if it works for this error, though.

Yep, using Feedburner seems to eliminate problems.

I don't personally have a problem with any feed. I was just suggesting that for broken URLs, malformed XML feeds or inaccessible URLs, that the vB plugin code shouldn't barf, it should fail silently, as in not display the errors so the forums look nicer

Agreed. I'll point John at this thread when he's around.
