I remember when...

Drinking water was free at a gas station... Now it costs $1.50 for a bottle of water...

You didnt have to pay $1 to turn on the air compressor to top up your tires...

Someone actually pumped your gas for you and was damn happy to serve you...

People felt safe picking up hitchhikers...

There was no such thing as roadrage and other drivers would let you merge without giving you the finger...

There were no 4 lane, 6 lane or 8 lane highways and we still managed to get there on time...

--------------------

What do you remember?

Wow, this thread went nowhere?

I remember when gas was 20 cents a gallon instead of $4.00 a gallon.

I remember when a pack of smokes cost 30 cents.

I remember when Halloween was an awesome thing and parents cut their kids loose to run the neighborhood freely without worrying about it.

Anybody else???

I remember when kids used to play out together instead of sitting in front of as ps2 and play violent games.

We used to watch stuff like 'Bod' and 'Battle Of The Planets'

I remember when . . .

nobody even thought to wear seat belts
8-track technology was the coolest
nobody cared about their cholesterol levels
there were 4 tv channels and that seemed like enough
laying in the grass and staring at the clouds, spinning in circles on the front lawn, making daisy "jewelry", and catching fireflies could entertain me and my friends for hours.

Ah the simpler times

TV was blach and white (and various shades of gray),
Uncle Miltie (Milton B) was a major show,
Burns & Allen were hits,
Beanie (and cecil the seasick seaserpent) was a hit for kids,
The Lone Ranger with Brace Beamer and Jay Silverheels,
and Red Ryder with Robert Blake as Little Beaver,
The Marx Bros show had all 5 bros.,
Sky King was sponsered by Oveltine,
and Red Skelton was a top comedy,
we went to the movies and had One major feature, a serial (continuing next
week) a real commedy (like Buggs Bunney) and a newsreel.
Remember our generation sent man to the moon,
Your generation elected Bill Clinton,
I'd rather be remembered for great accomplishments.
- What have you personally done to improve or change things (as a majority of one), many of my generation served in the military under difficult conditions and thought it a privelege, and were spit upon when we returned and called "baby killers", now those trators are in prominent positions, no wonder we have the problems we have. falcon

Not only that, most shops make us fill our own bags that we just purchased.

I remember when shop assistants would place your purchased goods into your shopping bag.

I remember
- we had a lot more respect for the elders...
- when I used to come from school and gone out and play with my friends;
- that even if I started my sexual life when I was 12, we didn't had conversation based on sex;
- we used to go to school everyday;
- that we used to be good;
- we had a lot more respect for teachers & school;
- that the spring used to be spring and not winter ;
- that things were different than now;
- my grandmother, my grandfather and my father { They're not here anymore }

I remember when...

- Kids would get suspended for days for a fist fight. Guns were unthinkable in schools.
- Honda automobiles first arrived.
- Everyone had a computer. It was a Casio wrist watch and the good ones had a calculator too.
- The fax machine was really the only way to get a document from here to there, today.
- The internet was text based.
- $100 was a lot of money.
- VCR's were $600 each.

I remember:

-When penny candy was a penny. You could get a whole bag for a quarter
-When a pinball machine was a dime and cool
-There were no microwave ovens, and the coffee was made in percolator coffee pots
-The only (quick) popcorn was Jiffy pop, done on the stove top
-There were no pagers, cell phones and when you got away no one could get a hold of you to bug you
-TV went off the air around 1 am and they played the National Anthem when they signed off the air each night
-When there was NO swearing on TV, and it was huge when Cable and HBO arrived and someone said Damn, and naked people on TV was a shocker
-No computers at home, but Pong was huge
-Making copies at school on the copy thingy for the teacher and smelling the paper all the way back to class
-no Security at school, no lockdowns
-An ambulance looked like a Hearse
-Skate keys for your roller skates
-Shoveling driveways in the winter to make money
-The Beatles on the Ed Sullivan Show

oh there is so much more...........

But if I keep going, Kristeejo will think I'm old

I remember when "v", "7", and "n" were just a random assortment of letters and numerals to me, signifying nothing.

I remember when Thunderbirds were the apex of special effects.
I remember when a can of soft drink was 5pence a can.
I remember the half pence piece.
I remember when policemen were allowed to slap you around the head.
I remember when Michael Jackson was weird.
I remember when one TV in a house was a luxury.
I remember when being a millionaire meant you never had to work again.
