I believe that over half the world cultures were in the Americas before Columbus, He was given credit for discovering it, cause he was european??

Yes! Oh yes oh yes! Not to mention there were already thriving cultures in north and south america before Columbus arrived. See Watson's Brake, Cahokia, the Anasazi, the Ohio River Valley. They built cities, fostered communities, and used astronomy to predict equinoxes and solstices (see Cahokia's "Woodhenge"). Some refer to them as the Hopewell and Adena, others as "the Moundbuilders." Anyway, they were here and settled long before Columbus sailed the ocean blue in 1492.

But I don't know anything about China's pendulous thingie...
