On the 4th of July American's of all creeds and colors will come together to pay homage to their greatest cultural achievement and gift to the world: the hot dog.

This year's Nathan's Hot Dog Eating contest bodes to be the all-time greatest gurgitation contest the world has ever seen as the reigning titan of the sport, former world record holder and 6 time champion, Kobayashi Takeru takes on Joey Chestnut who shattered Kobayashi's record of 53.75 hotdogs in June this year by ingesting a staggering 57 hot dogs in a Nathan's qualifying round in Florida.

This year's contest will be a heroic showdown between one of this decades greatest sports figures (Kobayashi) and an All-American up-and-comer fighting to take the championship back home.

Will the samurai spirit triumph again or will the American juggernaut reclaim this beachhead from the Japanese?

Wow, great thread, mr. impossible! My prediction: Kobayashi will take it with 54.5 hot dogs. Chestnut will choke (not literally i hope) due to his inexperience.

do you live in Japan? If so, you must be torn on the inside as to who you should cheer for in this contest. I understand split loyalty. I used to live in England and so I am always torn when i see the English travel abroad because they are always such dick-holes. But I understand that they can't help it, it's a genetic disease, so i choose to pity them instead.
