why are people afraid of giving a green rep ?

why do people feel afraid to give a green rep, even if they feel helped ?

it never takes there own rep when they are helping

it might not harm their own rep

it might help to spread friendship

it might increase the no. of friends in their community

but why they are not ??

its confusing....

please help me friends...

No one is afraid. We give rep when it is deserved.

As julie said, if i feel any post funny or helpful, means if the user deserves a rep at any post, then i would rep him/her there..

Rep is not specifically to increase friendship or so.

I don't think so that anyone is afraid of giving REP, people do give green when a post deserves it.

I think you are asking the wrong question, perhaps what you really want to know is why are you not getting as much green rep as you would like.

I generally do not give red rep., I prefer to ignore the individual or post if it offends me that much.
I generally give green rep. to someone who:

• makes me think,
• makes me laugh,
• expands my knowledge or understanding,
• helps without strings attached,
• goes out of their way for someone else.

These are rules I have set only for myself and are based on my thoughts gained from using these forums.

I never give rep points to those who ask for them as a matter of principle.

but I am just asking as I asked someone for whom I was giving, he told me that I might lose some of mine.

I tried to make this thread, just to let people aware of the reality, and not the baseless facts.

I usually try to make a thread which should be helpful for most of the people who are new in forums like this.

I appreciate your concern, and I got no bad feelings as you might be feeling.

I hope you have read my post above...

I wont mind and you can take my rep's and distribute to all who might need it.

I just want this to be useful for others to know what they should know and understand.

When there is any new member, he is afraid to violate any rules of the forum, he / she is afraid to do anything that might harm his / her rep.

even I was not knowing it till I give some rep's to help someone.

It was not until I got my 300 posts... trust me, I dont lie much.
