Popular Baby Names
I'm updating an ebook on popular baby names and would love to hear what your baby or youngster is called (not the names they're called when they're naughty that is, although that might be fun).

Funny that. I had spontaniously written the names of our kids but before I hit the submit post button I somehow didn't feel right with posting my kid's names on a public forum so here's my name: Ferre. (It's not a popular name though)

I'm with Ferre about the kid's names so here are a few off the top of my head instead ...
Tiberius, Titus, Lucius, Samantha, Elias, Grendal, Gorgonite, Delila, Damocleas, Elona, Windy.
And my favourite, that I would call my next son if I had one, Zorgon.
Its a good thing my wife has the final say I guess.

I always liked Leander (and Evander, until Holyfield spoiled it for me). Leander means 'lion-like', something like that.

I see your point about the kids names and thinking about it I would be a bit hesitant too. Ok, any name that tickles your fancy will do.

With a name like that, it sounds like he'd have to wear some sort of intergalactic-warrior style body armor.
(you know, to protect him from when his classmates try to beat him up)
I won't list my own kids' names, but here are some that are popular with my friends:
For girls:
Emma
Lilly
Hannah
Sara
Emily
Grace
Sophie
Katherine (Katie)
For boys:
Matthew
Adam
Zachary
Alexander
Jonathan
Michael

Yeah, but when I'm ruler of the galaxy they'll regret it big time.
Do-over did you really mean to say,
"I'm not gonna tell you my kids names but these are the names of my friends' kids".
Or have I got it wrong, I hope I got it wrong.

Only two names on that list are actual names that friends of mine have used. (I won't say which, though - and I also didn't spell those names the way they did.) The rest of the names are those which my three currently pregnant friends are considering. Since they have the most current baby name books, I figured those would be the most popular names.
Since nobody here could ever possibly know my friends, I saw no harm in posting those names.

Instead of asking us... why not try this:
http://www.ssa.gov/OACT/babynames/
It's far more accurate if you're looking for "popular" baby names. Plus, you can search by year to see historically popular names.
You can also do a search for a name, and it will tell you its popularity over time (in the US). For example, here's the results for Julie for the past 25 years:
Popularity of the female name Julie
Year of birth Rank
2006 296
2005 280
2004 259
2003 242
2002 218
2001 224
2000 190
1999 178
1998 168
1997 164
1996 150
1995 140
1994 129
1993 119
1992 106
1991 98
1990 93
1989 78
1988 71
1987 65
1986 58
1985 55
1984 52
1983 46
1982 41
Note: Rank 1 is the most popular, rank 2 is the next most popular, and so forth. Name data are from Social Security card applications for births that occurred in the United States.

I knew it couldn't possibly be true.
Be care people, public forum and private information do not mix.
