LSD and DMT are certainly not for the faint hearted.
I've seen a grown man crawling around in the sand at a massive dance party believing he was a turtle, shooing people away from his baby turtles and nest.
Others believing they were on a lake in a row boat when in fact they were miles away from any water only to find themselves in an open field.
And then you get the weak minded who decide to jump off 4 storey building believing they can fly.
Amazing feeling though if like Ferre mentioned, you are mentally stable and can differentiate reality with hallucination.

I'm mentally stable
(and so am I)
but, those kinds of things don't appeal to me. I like being sober - I don't want to be mentally flying off somewhere.

Yep. As I said, it's not for those who tend to "dive into their mental weaknesses" and sadly enough that's the majority of people. The majority of people really should steer away from experimenting with their own minds, as for them, reality is often hard enough to be able to coop with.
people who definately should NOT use it are;
Those who ever been depressed
Those who are emotionally sensitive
Those who have anger problems
Those who are close minded
Those who have low IQ
Those who have little self esteem
Those who need others to feel good
Those who do not totally accept who and what they are.
In short, it's only for those who feet totally comfortable with themselves and their invironment and have an above avarage intelligence.
I personally don't see LSD to be a recreational drug, and DMT is even more intrusive to your perspectives, psychoactive substances are teachers but as with every new thing we learn, we first have to get to know the basics which takes time and practise.
The biggest mistake people make when using psychoacives is usually that they take it, unexperienced, in the wrong settings like a party, those same people wouldn't go and try to drive a car in a busy street for the first time without a driving instructor but when they take a substance which has the same risks for accidents, although not in the streets but in their own mind, they don't think about the risks involved.
However, people who do have experience and learned how to deal with their changed perspectives while on acid or DMT can have a great time at a party or anywhere else for that matter, although acid is far more suitable, DMT is best used in nature or at home in my opinion. They can't really be compared with eachother, LSD changes one's perspective of reality while DMT brings you in a totally different dimension alltogether.

Oh, Domestic Diva, in case you wonder, my reply was not directed to your last reply, I wrote it after I read Seda's last reply and I noticed your post after I hit the submit button.

Thanks, Ferre! I wasn't sure.
I need to admit something: I am thoroughly terrified of those kinds of drugs. (well, all drugs in general)
I don't have an addictive personality, so I'm not afraid of getting hooked - but I am afraid of what I'd experience. I don't like feeling *different*.

Don't worry, you are totally normal. Most people are terrified for the unknown, and specially when the unknown effects their own mind. As I said, most people should steer away from experimenting with their own views on reality, since ancient times it has been only those who have a total confidence in their own sanity that have been able to use entheogens in their advantage and the advantage of others. It was usually preserved for shamans - medicine men and the wise man of the village. In modern times the knowledge and availability of entheogens has become more easy to obtain but in my own personal opinion this also has lead to a diluting of the actual purpose of using them.
As I said before, I do not regard those substances as recreational, it is deeply spiritual, it's a religious practise which is not such widespread knowledge amongs the mainstream.
I am one of the few modern religious leaders from an ancient religious/spiritual culture who attempt to spread the awareness of this very fact because the recreational use of many, once sacred, substances has given it a bad image, which it does not deserve at all. If people would use entheogens for other than recreational purposes we wouldn't have the problems with "drugs" we see today. There's nothing wrong with the use of *some* drugs, it's the widespread abuse which causes the problems.
