CS CD-Key lost :(

Ok I finally got my ISP and BT to work toegther and I now have broadband!!!

last easter my half-life and Counter-Strike CD was stolen - along witht the CD case with the CD-key written on it, so now I will have to buy a new copy, but I can't get one till tuesday!

Does anyone have a spare CD-Key I can use in the mean time?

Half-Life or Counter-Strike CD-Key should work (they both worked for me in the past) - that's why I think someone might have a *spare* key that they don't need?

oh well lucky me - i found someone with a spare key! now i just have to download it!

but steam says the game is currently unavailable!

madhatter if I download the "Valve Steam Client / Full CS1.6 Cache" from Counter-Strike DL will it overwrite or currupt my current installation of steam?

Or can i just copy the CS cache into my steam folder?

No, download the "Valve Steam Client / Full CS1.6 Cache"
It should overwrite what you have.... but you know what steam is like!
It will take a while to update after installing, because the cache is not up to date....
But then if you get errors connecting, I tend to find that it is usually firewall problems.
Go to the forums at steampowered.com they have a sticky for nearly every common problem .... with a solution.

Well, buy a real key then!

do what I did, go into chatrooms, find somebody who has counterstrike and half life, and talk them in to giving you one of their keys, because they don't need them both.

I have used bought keys.

its common, you buy a key but sadly enough your key is the key they use for piracy.

Just go to some Game store that sells PC games and buy the platnum pack, then you'll have like 5 CD Keys .
