Are entrepreneurs born or made?
OK guys, interesting question here, will be cool to see everybodys responses to this. Do you think that entrepreneurs are born to take calculated risks and start a growth business or can they be moulded therefore learning from their mistakes?
Give your answer, and why you think this!

They are made IMHO, there no such thing as you're "born" with it. The success of anything is based on hard work

I think there are certain type personalities that lend themselves to being more successful as a self motivator. However, that being said, anyone can learn to condition themselves to become successful. The most important attribute to being a successful entrepreneur is sacrifice.

I do not agree with either one of you.
No matter how much you teach, hold-hands, or nurture some people they will never be able to succeed, let alone at something like starting and running your own business. For this very reason there are those that pump gas, those who own the gas station, and those that get fat off of high priced gas.
I'm not saying it's a fault or that one is more important than the other. However, to say point blank that it's a learning process is violently incorrect.

i guess it all comes down to personal views on the subject doesnt it. i beleive with the right guidence and advice, and with a bit of guts and risk taking, anybody could potentially become a entrepreneur, it just depends on your personality and views on things, and whether you have the right people backing you!

Can you teach character and personality? I don't think so.

i went and purchased richard bransons autobiography today and have read through 1/3rd of the book already, and already it is evident that most of his businesses and ideas have come about purely by chance, he has been shown an idea or seen an opportunity and grabbed it with both hands.

I think entrepreneurs are made because everyone have a basic skills, but it will depend on how you discover your potentials and nurture it.

I think it's both. I believe some are born with the talent to be one, while others have to train harder to be one.
