However Atom, you post some of the best quality crap I've read. It is entertaining and makes me smile.

Standards of quality can ultimately get dealt with on a case by case basis. We all post crap now and then and to impose standards on posting would remove some of the free-feeling attitude this board has. If someone has been abusing the unwritten rule of quality posting, deal with that person. Let the rest of us post our crap.
I might have a big stake in this given my superfluous verbiage...

Thanks, Linda. I didn't used to be quite this crazy. Seems to have escalated in the last 5 years.

I face exactly the same problem at my forums, one of the ways I dealt with it is by increasing maximum character in a post so that the "I agree" and " me too" type response are impossible to post.
I know this has its downside as well but the advantage far far outweigh the limitation it imposes on people who want to post genuine short "me too" post.

For the sake of discussion, I am talking about responses similar to the following. - Me too.
- I agree.
- I disagree.
- Welcome.
- LMAO.
- Thanks .
- Nice article.
I am curious what others feel as to what makes for a quality response to a thread.

As for the concern of posting one word comment just to increase their post count why not make the most spammed thread a no increase in member's cumulative post count.

If spammers are aware of this, they just move to thread/forum the rule does not apply to.

This reminds me of a PM I once got. I think I was drinking and posting belligerently at the time. Only one I ever got, and I was way out of line for quite a while. That PM was a good wake up call for me. I didn't respond to the PM, but I did back off because I knew it killed them to send it.

Haha then let's resort to what you've suggested increase the maximum character in their post and disregard space and special characters to avoid Welcome................... strategy, is that possible?

Oooooh, there are mysterious hidden caverns?! I'm off to "ditto" a bunch of posts!
IMO, you can "ditto" but then add more info to make it a quality post.

Most of my posts are short.
I like them that way.
I usually don't bother reading anything over 5 lines, anyways

I don't know how to respond in this thread anymore. And somehow I think it's my fault.
Oh well. Good thing I can't remember back that far.

Actually I'm guilty with this thing..Especially when I agree to a certain topic but I don't want to elaborate my explanations. But thanks for reminding me..I'll stop doing this and will continue to post replies with sense..
