You're right Diva. "Retard" doesn't belong really anywhere.. Just voicing my frustration with the endless divel posters who think people care about "me too" and "me neither" posts.

I was just looking over a thread about someone getting a letter from adsense. Almost every reply on the thread was "I've never received a letter like that".. Question: WHO CARES that you've never gotten one? Add something useful or at least congratulate the OP on becoming a featured publisher.

Thank you for replying to my comment, Deejay Dan. Now that's an example of a quality post; someone responding to another person's comment.

The possible reasons for and benefits of short posts are too numerous to even be a credible group judgement issue, except when they're by bonafied spammers. So the question then becomes, who is a bonafied spammer? Is the true answer: everyone? Are short posts annoying to a degree relative to your own position on the spaminess ladder? I know that a few aren't on the ladder at all, but these cases can be discounted as they are obviously not bonafied.
wait..
that's me!
I just talked myself right out of the discussion!!
I knew I'd find a way out of this.

What I do is watch John, because I know he's the ultimate reason for the way things are here. And whether I disagree or not, I've come to realize that it doesn't really matter whether I disagree or not, I just watch and try to learn his take on things. I've learned a lot from John just by observation. However, another thing I've learned is, it is usually not wise to attempt to state his opinions for him, even if you know you're right. He's rather unpredictable and you'll be confounded most every time.
Oh, did I mention this was a dictatorship? LOL

It's true. It's very easy to lose sight of that because John is a wise leader.

For the sake of discussion, I am talking about responses similar to the following. - Me too.
- I agree.
- I disagree.
- Welcome.
- LMAO.
- Thanks .
- Nice article.
I am curious what others feel as to what makes for a quality response to a thread.

Very good points indeed! I like this forum but, to be honest at times I feel mods should do more to maintain the quality of content here.

you having a bad day and wanting to start some shit.
just kidding, my take is that you really need to use your instinct on what quality is.
I mean if you have an emotional response, it can be short.
You say ¨I so agree with you!¨ or lmfao
that is ok
You need to take posts one by one and decide whether or not they are simply done to spam signatures or real responses.

* Encourage members to post long replies. Possibly one or two sentences rather than 01 or 02 words.
* Encourage members to avoid too generic replies such "cool", "hello", wow", "yeah", "." "thanks", etc.
* Warn members trying to increase their post count purposely.
* Avoid duplicate replies in every thread.
And the list goes on.

yeah, and for some instance that could lead to non-response by other members. Others will have hesitations on replying (they know who they are). And worst it could lead others not to be active anymore...

Yes, violaters of post quality can get dealt with 1:1 on a PM basis. That makes for a less intimidating environment. I don't really see a reason to have a "policy" on this, but new posters should get warned that if they post too much "nice" or "I have one too" they may get an infraction or warning or whatever.
This is why I never got into politics. Policies bother me. Ow! There goes another one!!!
