Why Do You Join Forum Sites?
Folks - I would like to know what are the prominent reasons that you join a forum site.Below are few of the options, please select the option which you think is the "reason you use a forum site"
1.To share knowledge with other publishers and webmasters
2.To learn new things from other people of the same field.
3.To get backlinks through the signature ( I am not sure whether it is actually called a backlink or not )
4.To bring traffic to your site or blog
There might be several other reasons that you might join a forum for - please do let everybody know what makes you join a forum site.
Thanks
Nikhil

I think all of these reasons apply, some more than others depending on the individual to which this question is put. For me all of these applies equally.

Does the link in the signature is considered as a backlink?

Webmaster forums are indispensible to me. If I'm up against something I haven't seen before, or need advice or suggestions concerning my websites ... I'm rarely disappointed.
I wouldn't know where else to go.

Well I come to v7n.com to help others out and plus this is where I pratically grew up when I was introduced to SEO a lot has changed for me in the last year I have learned a lot and have come a far way I've ranked some of the most competitive keywords over, over, and over again keywords such as printing, web design, website design, and etc.
I use to ask questions here a lot, but now I never ask questions everything I need to know is what I know I guess I could say, so if I get bored maybe I'll stop by hear every once and awhile.

I come to forums to help people out, meet like minded people, learn new stuff and find affiliates for my products.
I've met some people off forums who've helped me heaps with my business and I like to think I've helped a bunch of people too. As long as you don't get addicted to them, they're cool

I'm so new to all this that I can't really contribute too much on blogging, webhosting, etc., etc., so I am defintely in the #2 area right now.
Again, my blog has such low traffic (again, don't fall of your chair laughing) of less than 20, that it's not to bring folks to my site.....hasn't really worked in the 2+ months we have been 'on the air' .

Yeah, Links in Sig don't help with any SEO, funnily enough, my memebers page on this forum shows as a backlink, but none of my posts do...
I come to forums to see if there's anyone I can help out, and just to see whats happening in the SEO world, I often look at peoples websites to find recip links.

For me:
1. To learn and share knowledge with other webmasters.
2. To gather new informations about website development and seo.
3. To meet friends and share my views about anything under the sun topics.
4. To gain few traffic for my blog and site.
5. To gather backlinks from signatures.
One good thing about v7n is that you're not just going to post here for business or work purposes but also, you can get a chance to meet and discuss thoughts with other members and moderators...

Joined to share and learned new ideas...Forum signatures are considered as backlinks... but that depends if the forum put a nofollow on the signatures...
